Will an '04 - '06 FX4/Lariat gauge cluster work for a replacement of same year XLT gauge cluster? Is it an easy Plug and Play swap? What mileage will be displayed, my truck or the truck that the new cluster came out of?

 

Not sure of the year compatubility, but I do know the mileage of the cluster is what shows, not of the truck

 

mileage is displayed, but you need to take it to ford to have your mileage to show so it is correct.

 

in order to work properly the cluster will need to be reprogrammed with your truck to work,
the mileage that will show will not be your truck's for that only the dealer will do it, is not going to be cheap and is going to take a couple of days for the dealer to return it to you.
But at the end it will look different but nice.
I dont know if there is a plug and play cluster, thats anybody know if there is any and how they make it to work?

 

The "as built data" as well as the mileage needs to be programmed into the new cluster.

The FX4 cluster is a direct bolt in and is plug and play. The Lariat cluster has the additional message center that requires more work to get it working.

 

I did a larait cluster swap from an 07 to my late 05. I added the message centre buttons and 3 wires to get that. Working. I DID NOT get the as built data programmed. It works fine. I did take my two clusters to a speedo shop, they wanted proof of current mileage. Took them less than an hour. I then switched the AC wire location at the cluster. The hardest part wAs the research
