17's with 35's or 20's with 35's

What do you guys think of how a truck should look? Big tires or big rims with off road tires. I have some 35" cooper discovery S/t on stock 17's and was thinking about going with a 20" rims and some off road tires.
Anyone have pictures of this?
Also what tires would you use?

What I have now.

I'm running 20's with a 34.7" BFG tire. More pics in my gallery.

I like my 17's, looks wise, I prefer a good sized rim 17-19 and a big meaty tire, thats just me though.

IMHO,

Any tire 33" or more looks MUCH better and "modern" on a 20" wheel. Mounted on a smaller wheel and one starts to get that retro 70's look.

OEM 20's with Mickey Thompson Baja ATZ's 305-55/20 (34")

[/IMG]I prefer the more tire less rim look personally, I know it's old school but I am old school. It's what makes a 4x4 look like a 4x4 IMHO.

I like the old shool look, bigger tire, on smaller wheel. Of course the larger wheels, offers a litttle better handling, and possibly mileage.

to each his own..

I think it all depends on how/where you will use your Truck..

I'm an old schooler, more tire and better wheels protection

We're not talking about a 30 series tire on a 24" DUB....LOL

A 33" tire on a 20" rim is just as much "protection" as a 33" tire on a 17" rim.

LOL! that picture of a lowered chevy on 26"s is what i though of

sure they both offer the same wheels protection but isn't it a 33" on 20" has less tire wall compared to a 33" on 17"? this is what i always thought of...

My personal taste is 17" for 33's, 18" for 35's, and reserve 20" for 37's and up.

More tire less wheel is considerably cheaper for the tire and the wheel. For example here's my setup:

37x12.50R17, BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM2 - $332.99
ATX Wheels 17x9, 6 on 135 Bolt Pattern - $188.99
Grand total of $2087.92.

Now if I ran 20's-

37x12.50R20, BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM2 - $512.99
ATX Wheels 20x9, 6 on 135 Bolt Pattern - $286.99
Grand total of $3199.92 which is over $1000 more.

Also, you'll never see any serious off road trucks running lower profile tires while the show trucks and pavement queens use big wheels. The more meat on the wheel the more traction and side bite you'll have. You'll also have more shock absorption if you was to hit a rock/curb and less likely to ruin a wheel.

I despise low profile offroad tires on a truck. There's a guy around here that has a lifted chevy with 24's and M/T tires it looks horrible almost like BMX bike tires.
