Header Bolts

My brother was telling me that Ford header bolts need to be replaced very so often so they won't seize. Is this ture or is he thinking of spark plugs? He said it was like a $2000 job.

older F150 are prone to breaking manifold studs, they have been upgraded to stainless steel and no longer rust and break as they used too. Not sure what year they were changed but I know all 04+ NBS F150s have stainless studs

Mine definetely doesn't have stainless studs, they'll be needing replaced within 2 years. There's a guy around me who does them for 400 bucks for 16 studs and gaskets, did my brothers v10 and they've been wonderful. They don't need replaced until they leak tho op

A $2000 job....for what? Replacing exhaust manifold bolts?

Not sure what kind of stuff your brother is smoking, but complete removal and replacement of an engine is less than $2000 (labor cost). A header install with new header bolts is less than $500. A plug change, I have seen as high as $250. Figuring a labor charge of $100/hr (thats high), that equates to a 20 hour job. I think there is some miscommunication here.

I had a lightning with 40k miles on it when I replaced headers. I just soaked the studs the night before with PB Blaster.
