My nightmare, built by a drunk GM worker on a friday truck.

Just thought I'd pass along some of the issues I've had with my f150 over the last few years. Just to vent a little and see who has had the same issues.

1. upper control arms and lower ball joints.
2. safety module. (controls the auto headlights and keyless entry)
3. Transmission
4. Typical coil and spark plus missfire
5. Transmission again
6. IWE not retracting
7. More spark plug coil issues lol
8 tail gate will not go down unless I put all my weight on it.
9. rear end chatter when going around corners

well thats all I can remember at this time.

I'm trying to figure this d@mn wheel end now and am taking it next friday for plugs.

Well thanks for listening haha

balljoints are wear items...
so are spark plugs and coils...
try adjusting your tailgate handle...
change your rear end fluid (be sure to add the friction modifier)...
^if that doesnt work have your clutch packs replaced...

I replaced the uca's and ball joints already
i sprayed down the ends of the tail gate with wd-40 where the torsion bar connects and it seems to help.
I already did the fluid and it seems a little better.

LOL No. I just dont like GM and when the dayton SUV plant was still open we would always see them going into a bar for lunch. Nothing personal just joking around.

I feel your pain. I've had plenty of issues with mine but that's the way the ball bounces sometimes. There are a few very common problems that upset me but part of my issue was the incompetent dealer I was taking it to while under warranty. But I must say the ball joints and tie rods on these don't seem to last as long as I'm used to with other vehicles.

WD-40 is a rust inhibiter, not a lubricant. Just my .02

and whats wrong witht the tranny? I seriously believe, while I know there are lemons out there, that the way a truck is cared for will be 100% given back to you in the longevity of a vehicle. I have a 2002, and have zero problems with it (knock on wood) other than wear items. I don't baby it, I make it work when it has to, but I sure don't put the sprus to 'er on the regular.

The first tranny was the Overdrive clutches or something like that. and the second one was obviously someone at the re manufacturing company cranked it down way to tight cause the case cracked all the way around it.

oh and it just rolled over 99,000 today

I'm not a strong fan of WD-40 even though I keep a supply on hand and do use it regularly. It is actually a lubricant, though not in the same class as a high quality machine oil. Have you ever Googled WD-40? They have an interesting list of over 2000 things it can (and has been used for) Some of it is pretty , but hilarious. It does a LOT of things, maybe not WELL , but it does 'em anyway!

Oil all you want, but a good grease will go a long way.

I'm not real sure if you are getting how the tail gate torsion bar system works on these trucks. but inside where the mount turns was full of dirt and crud. after the WD cleaned it out I sprayed some lithium grease in it. up and down like a champ now.
