I don't know how concealed they require them to be, but I have a holster that mounts under my steering wheel and is easily accessible if needed (thankfully it hasn't been needed, though). I can get some pics if needed.

I have the console vault in my truck, but when I travel I usually put my piece in . It can be easily removed if I'm not using it. Your vehicle is considered an extension of your home in Louisiana, so this is legal here.

The only problem with a vault of any sort is access. There is limited room under the front seat and the console is only so big. Putting it under the back seat is well out of reach, if you ever needed it. Unless it's attached to the vehicle somehow, a thief can walk off with your weapon and the vault. This is another alternative to lockable storage that would fit under the front seat and can be securely fastened to the seat frame, so it's not as easy to steal.

Just throwing some other ideas out there.

What kind of gun are you concealing? The picture makes the XD look like the grip will prevent the lid from closing. If you use a serpa, i would manipulate the finger safety while riding in the truck. Your hand will be at an odd angle and you already have to open the console to draw.

I really like the setup. I ended up taking a piece of velcro to hold it up to the dash so it wouldn't slide around so much. I like it because none of the passengers can get to it, and anyone reaching inside the truck can't get to it...at least not before me!

I love that. Not as clean as the console mount but much quicker to get too. That's how I'll probably do mine with a safe under the seat.

I got mine from Gum Creek Customs. It was $50 or so with free shipping. Or I believe they have one cheaper, but it just doesn't come with the holster, just the strap and you use your own holster. I got the one with the holster so I can keep mine on my side while driving and easily move the gun from me to the truck.

I had a holster mounted in last truck... I have been wanting to do something like this with my truck now for my G22, but haven't got around to it yet. I carry an S&W Airweight .38+p and it fits perfectlly in my sunglass holder.
