Question for the Gurus here

I was looking a a 2004 F150 this weekend and saw the carfax report. There were no reported accidents, but in 2006 an axle and a rotor were replaced. to me it appeared that the truck may have hit a curb really hard or something to that effect. The salesman was saying it was probably warranty work being done.

What are your opinions?

Not a guru on the subject, but I can't see why any warranty work would be on a carfax report. Carfax information is reported by insurance companies. I am not sure why an insurance company would replace axle and rotor without there being some sort of accident.

If you look at the Carfax site, they state they even look at service records, including oil changes. My guess it was a warranty, as there were problems with the 04 rotors/calipers.

Take the VIN to a Ford dealer and ask nicely for an OASIS report.

I am not buying that truck as I bought a different one yesterday. I was just curious what you all thought. That salesman was an *** and I would never buy from them after my experience there.

The YM 2004 F150 came with bad axles. They were well known for howling. Ford replaced a ton of them. The rear emergency brake was also an issue with the brakes not releasing causing major heat at the rear bearings. I wouldn't back from buying the truck but since you already bought another one, best of luck with it.
