- Power equipment inside door panels (got mine off eBay)

- 1 8 or 10 gauge wire to run power to the components from the battery (10 - 15 ft should suffice) (Westmarine.com)
- 4 colors of 14 gauge wire for the windows at 15-20 foot length (Westmarine.com)
- 5 colors of 18 gauge wire for the mirrors at 15-20 foot length (may need 7 or 8 colors if you want power fold, turn signals, etc) (Westmarine.com)
- Split wire loom (Amazon)
- Auxilary fuse panel (Like this one)
- 4 pin relay (to power to the windows / mirrors on key in on position)

Awesome.

Just a quick question, why didn't you just originally buy an STX with all the options? It seems like you've had to spend a lot more this way.

Your truck looks great though, good work.

I often wonder the same thing when I see these projects to upgrade a relatively new XL to an XLT or better set of options. Why not just spend the money off the bat, and have everything from the factory?

Because my XL was what was available and already had most of the XLT, FX4, and Roush options I wanted, and the mods were cheaper then the difference.

I bought this truck used in 2007. The closest XLT with all the features was at least $4K more at the time. I couldn't have waited either. I had a 96 Intrepid that was about to kick the bucket, and this truck was the most reliable and economical one available when I was in the market. Considering I was a college student with an internship, I had enough to buy a 15K truck, but the 19K truck was a bit out of my price range and it had higher mileage, etc.

Plus, modding is fun. I'm kinda glad I bought an XL because now I have things to keep me busy on the weekends
