Interesting, I never knew that. I figured they were out of an Acura TSX or something.

Hmm. Ok. What about the TL projectors? I saw some people use them for retro fits. I would guess they come out of Acura TLs or other Acura models and then people upgrade the lens to ZKW-R? Would the TLs be better/worse then the FX-R projectors? Thanks for the help!

Personally, If I had to do again, I would maybe go with the FX's. The output is the same, if maybe a little better on the FX. The TL have a very tight bright hotspot, where as the fx are more spread out. That and the FX doesn't have that large solinoid sticking out like the TL's do. Its hard on the F150's to get that to look nice.

The Tl's are THE BEST in most people's opinions overall. It depends what your looking for. Here is what my TL's ended up looking like......

Hey. I called a local Ford dealership, and they said that they do sell an HID projector kit for the F150s (asked about 2006 model). It is about $500 or $700 installed. He didn't give me a part number for them though. I've been searching the net for Ford name brand kits, but no luck. Does anyone know what this kit looks like or who makes this kit for Ford?

Thanks,
Crewster

The TLs are the best performers, but not by much and they are much harder to install due to shape and size. The FXR is best in terms of performance/price ratio plus ease of install.

The FXR is built for retro-fitting, but are based off the Infinity FX-35 projectors. The Acura TSX is low beam only, so it won't work in the F150 since we need Bixenon.

I would love to take the weekend and do this project soon but I got to save up a little for it first. Just spent $600 on hu/amp/subs.

If I just buy the FX-R Stage III kit from The Retro Source, I shouldnt need any other parts right, just tools? And I think I'll go with the Apollo shrouds, I think they look a lot better than the Gatling shrouds, no offense to those with the Gatlings.

Thanks guys

No such part exists. That guy doesn't know what he is talking about.

The only other parts you need are your headlights and some screws/butyl sealant/glues etc that can all be purchased cheap at home depot.

I thought Saleen came up with a set for the 04-08 models. I don't think they ever produced it though.

Well, I'm referring to anything available for sale. Besides, for the price the guy quoted him, it's about the same price to send your headlights off to be retrofitted.

If onde right they can look really good, I personally like how mine turned out even though they aren't perfect.

So after a few months of trying to find time to screw around with everything, I finally have pictures of my finished headlights! They turned out amazing, cutoff is almost perfect without any adjustment, and they are BRIGHT. I'm a little disappointed with retrofitsource halo's, you can only see them if it's somewhat dark out, and the sides light up a little bit brighter than the top and bottom. It's not that noticeable, I'm just really picky. Also, ignore the horrible orange bulbs, as soon as vleds has the switchbacks I want in stock I'll be ordering them. Anyway, here they are!

I like it! Do you have any pictures with the halo on with that shroud?

Correct on the 97-03 body style the gattlings look good. On the 04+ they look horrible though because the headlamp reflector is so large.

Not possible. There is NO production 09+ F150 saleen f150 yet much less one with factory projectors.

We are getting ready for a retro FXr kit on a 2010 platinum that we are planing to do custom shrouds on. Headlights came in today, waiting on the TRS package.
