I like that! I might add that to the Exhaust Bible with your permission.

i would attribute it most to your 4 speed. I find the new ones haul *** just because of the tranny. Would be an interesting swap in a few years for our model.

You need to pull up a chair and spend some time in the Chips and Intake forums and bone up a few things.

BTW - yep the Chubby's are quick. A POS, but quick.

You are making anywhere from 190 - 215 at the wheels - there are huge driveline losses. And that first gear ratio in the 4R75E is not helping any. And yes, it's an almost 6,000 lb brick ( or more depending on trim level, etc).

A programmer (preferably custom) is a fundamental requirement - and if running a non-stock intake - custom is mandatory (or canned with Wa-shoobi correction).

Haha not nutz, just in a unfortunate scenario. See, I bought the truck and it already had the intake and exhaust on it from the previous owner, and I have had an extra $500-600 dollars to buy an php gryphon that I wanted. So I'm stuck with this setup for now lol...

And those "33' Goodyear Wrangler MT/Rs" aren't helping that 3.73 rear gear either.

I see more chevy's like this...

more than ones that wanna race..NOW in this picture you can see what each truck is made for. The Chevy truck is made to be a POS. The Ford is made for hauling the POS. I def like that 250...reg cab longbed..
And yeah the Ford's have pretty much been the slower ones..from factory anyway. Hopefully that's changing with these new motors tho..

Chevy is a little faster because they are made of pop can metal.

Only chevy i ever raced was around an 01, don't kno what power they made or what engine this one had but it was before my gears and LT's. We were side by side until about 30 or so then he just powered away but he had normal size tires also i had 35's. But 97 4.6 is just weak.

My neighbor has a 08 Silverado 1500 and I'll agree on the pop can sheet metal. His daughter backed into it in the driveway and caved the side of the bed in. I mean she CAVED it in. I saw the whole thing happen and she wasn't doin 5mph when she hit it. Needless to say I just sat there and laughed for a good 5 mins.

Its hard for me to believe your getting beat that bad with a 5.4 versus a 4.8 no matter what configuration unless something isnt exactly right. My friend has the exact truck you are describing and my 04 5.4 with 35s stock would rape him. Hell ive been riding with him and gotten smoked by a 06 4.6 4x4. His was a 04 model but i dont think they upped the power much since then.

ps. he recently wised up and sold it for a 09 stx 4x4.

That's why I'm confused. I don't really have anyway to compare to how my truck should be. I bout it with like 64k on it and now I'm at 85k, and it goes the same as when I got it. I can still beat my other buddies 2001 F150 scab 4x4 with 5.4, but that's not a very good example I suppose.
