Heres a flat mount that should be long enough to go right past the rails -

to mount a firestik or simmilar ant. to, im getting a low profile toolbox i believe, and want to mount it towards the front of the bed, not off the back of the toolbox.

anyone have pictures of either way?

that flat bar mount im guessing can be mounted to the underside of the toolbox poking out the side, so its sandwiched between the box and the bed.

how would the ground wire run?
I'm pretty sure I have the same mount. As already stated it does not work in the original stake mount hole in the rail but you can easily move the mount out some and just drill the 4 holes for the screws to go through the rail. I have 2 mounts-one on the drivers side and one on the passangers side and they work great. Just move the mount out some and it works fine. I have a vinyl cover on the truck and it sits right on the mount with no problems. As for the ground wire I have ground piece (i forget what its called, about 1" wide and 6" long) the is sandwiched bewteen mount and bed cap and then wraps under the rail and sandwiched between bottom piece of mount and the rail-I probably confused you on that sorry
Best pic I got-there is another antenna mounted on driver side for scanner antenna. This one is a 4' wilson antenna with 3" spring
