cb mount options with low profile toolbox. no mag mounts.

any used this kinda mount

http://www.walcottcb.com/firestik-ss...l?cPath=28_353

to mount a firestik or simmilar ant. to, im getting a low profile toolbox i believe, and want to mount it towards the front of the bed, not off the back of the toolbox.

anyone have pictures of either way?

that flat bar mount im guessing can be mounted to the underside of the toolbox poking out the side, so its sandwiched between the box and the bed.

how would the ground wire run?

won't work on the 04-08 bed. i know for a fact. your stud mount will not clear the plastic bed rail covers.

what did you search for to find that. im wondering what makes that sit flat since that bar is 2mm thick, and how long it has to be. the firestik brand one is 5 inches long. and then wondering where i would run the cable. no one in this section has a setup like this?

im leaning towards mounting it to the back of the toolbox on the inside of the bed, since it would be less likely to grab trees and such i think.

i made a set of mounts for a friend. he had an 06 f150 with the low pro. tool box. they mounted to the front of the toolbox, because who wants to look around whips to get into the tool box?

Yes. It needs to be longer from the stake hole to the stud mount for the antenna. When I installed mine it looked fine until I went to mount the antenna. Since I dont have a tonneau cover or toolbox yet I just flipped the bracket around so that the antenna sits on the inside of the box.

sorry for taking so long on the pics but been busy with work. this is just a temp mount for the antenna i came up with just to see how good reception id get so far i like it. im thinking of ordering this one http://cgi.ebay.com/FireStik-Door-Ed...6#ht_719wt_856 and modify it some also thinking of a spring on the bottom of it just so it can bend a little still not to sure.

i tried springs on my truck, ( i run dual 3ft firesticks) and they just bent, bent, and snapped. not just one, both did. i put them on at the farm, drove about 45 mins on the interstate at 80 mph, and when i got to where i was going i got out of the truck, and it looked funny. they both broke off and luckly were laying in the box

i own this mount

http://www.walcottcb.com/firestik-ss...l?cPath=28_353

and im getting that low profile toolbox, i have to mount it to the back of the toolbox like next to the handle. and ill be putting a 4ft firestik on it. would you rather mount it to the back of the box, with the mount i own, on the back side, or would you get this mount

http://www.walcottcb.com/firestik-ss...l?cPath=28_353

and mount that to the side of the toolbox so it wraps around into the bed (ant. still on the backside of the toolbox). i would think the last mount i linked would hold the ant. more steady. and then if i ditch the setup, i wont have holes in my toolbox that are visible from the back.

which way?

i thought about mounting it to the tool box in the exact same spot your wanting to mount yours but the only reason i didnt was beause i thought it be to far into the bed and i wanted it in the corner but i think the second mount would work best that way not alot of holes are visible...

My mount is pretty similar to this. Mine is a little more permanent. Best place to put it though. Out of the way of everything, and low profile.
