Exclamation Front end, or Edge transmission issues...

I have a 2005 FX4 supercrew, 5.4L, 35in tires, edge evo, stock gears, fabtech 6in, When I'm slowing down, between 10-0mph, I get a hollow metal sound, I know that sounds weird, but its the only way I can describe it. Almost like you were dragging something metal inside a can. I dont have any vibrations, but i'm not sure if I have a transmission issue. I cant find anything loose underneath the truck either. 50,000 miles, regular service record. I cant figure it out!!

If you have a transmission issue (you didn't mention any problems with performance so it's hard to tell), I've highlighted your problem for you.

With 35s, you need to re-gear before you kill your transmission.

The big tires without regearing are probably the cause....

Programmers don't destroy trannies.......people do.

What makes you think it's the front end? There are a lot of things that could be wrong before you suspect the tranny or feel forced to upgrade gears (which is always a great upgrade). You have an FX4 so you have 3.73's and a tranny cooler. The 35's themselves won't kill the tranny. If you suspect the front end, check your rotors, brakes and especially hubs and IWE's. On my truck, I have a heat shield on one of my cats that rattles when I slow down. It sounds like I'm dragging a coffee can.

I think you need to spend more time diagnosing this problem before throwing parts at it...

It pretty much sounds like that! I cant find any brake issues, my IWE was replaced and hubs were ckecked 4000 miles ago and looked good, the reason I thought front end is cause it sounds like its right underneath the engine. The sheilds over the cats look ok... I mean they dont feel loose.... I just wanna make sure I'm not destroying anything.
