2005 4 wheel driving working or not?

So I've been noticing ever since I got my truck stuck that I didnt think the 4 wheel drive was working. I dont get that grinding noise with wheels at full lock in 4x4 anymore for some reason. So I went out to a field and put it in 4 wheel drive to put it to the test. Only the back two tires spun and the front ones only moved when the truck moved. I dropped it off at the dealership and they couldnt find anything wrong with it. Anybody got any suggestions on what it could be? By the way, the dealership where I live has a reputation of not knowing what they are talking about...haha Thanks!

Why didn't you just put the truck up on jackstands and engage the 4WD? If the front wheels turn, then it's working.

Grinding noise?

At full lock while in 4x4 my fronts bind but they don't grind.....

Do a search for IWE and IWE solenoid yours might be gone...

Thanks for y'alls replies! The dealership put it on the lift and they said that it was working. Not sure if it's different on the lift from on the ground. The IWE could definitely be the problem. I'll look at it when I get home to make sure that it's still there and in good shape.
