Talking Trip home from Ga to Va Wednesday

We came home up through NC from Conyers, Ga to the "Beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia" this past Wednesday, 12-29-10. We left Conyers, up through Monroe and Athens, then 29 N to Ga Rt 17 No. to Taccoa and from there used 441 from Ga/NC line to Sevierville Tn where we ate supper before hitting I-40 to I-81 North to home. We stopped at a few antique places along the way.

Thought some here might enjoy this portion below.

Truck was clean as we entered the Smokies.

Creek was pretty alongside 441

US Rt 441 was in pretty nice shape though there was some ice up high.

Some ice on rocks too!

Gatlinburg was pretty from the bypass. Last year we did same trip and took over 2 hrs to get through Gatlinburg.

Super Supper at "The Diner" on Tn. state Rt 66 north side Sevierville, Tn., a great family owned NON chain resturant, home cooked meals, buffalo burgers, fried apples, and some of the best Cocanut Creme Pie that "Suzy Q" (wife half of owner) ever made, I LOVE this place! My wife enjoyed the Fried Green Tomatoes with Salsa while I gobbled the cheezy grits.

Snowman alongside 441

SnowDOG anmd master on 441

SnowDRUNK on 441

And a SnowWOMAN(or barmaid or hooker or dancehall girl or etc???) on US Rt 441 12-29-10

Hey, it was a fun trip, took near 15 hours for what I have done in 8-1/2 hours non stop 'cause we goofed off and made some stops and took some side trips! My truck spends a lot of it's life in a carport protected while I age. I enjoyed my time with it Wednesday

Nice scenery, and that snow drunk is some funny stuff! got a question about ur truck... What grill is that? Is it factory or did you have it painted to match? Thanks for any info and for sharing your trip with us.

Thanks and you're welcome .... .

Grille is stock on this 2007 FX4 ... it came painted red. Black mesh is behind it. I have seen only a very few that weren't black like it or weren't a mesh, but they are out there.

The snow people were at a couple pull offs there in the Smokies. The snow drunk is seated with toes up. He's facing you in the pull off while the snow woman is turned facing him with her side to you.

Surely you jest?

There's a whole world of wonder and history awaiting you there.

Thanks.

Hey I was near there the other day to! Me and the family took 85 to 40 to 441 into TN. We stayed in a cabin in Pigeon Forge. I actually passed that diner many times. We came home on Thursday though. You should have been on 40 near the TN border on Monday though, traffic was crazy.

Yeah, if you passed it and didn't stop, you missed out!

The Diner Rats Car Club calls it home too, hosting rod runs, shows, and such.

Glad you made it OK, traffic on I-40 from 81 in Tn to Waynesville turnoff in NC when heavy is crazy! Beautiful drive but dangerous when crowded.

I guess I missed out then haha. We had some good home cooked meals though.

Beautiful is right, I like the ice hanging from the mountains. I got to see alot of that while going 2 mph stuck in traffic.
