Will new wheels with backspacing...?

No. Already had BFG TA KO 285/70/17's before the wheel swap. The tires DO stick out the side of the wheel well about 1'+ more so I thought maybe with the front suspension combined with the center of the wheel being out more it might be really sitting lower, in the front anyway.
I guess it's all in my head...

how wides your wheel?
for example: if you got a 12" wide wheel and a 12" wide tire it's going to be so stretched out the tire will be shorter.
and even if your tire was an inch smaller than stock some how that would only net .5" drop which would probably not be too noticable.
rim's have no effect on height what so ever unless you choose too wide or narrow of a rim for your tire selection and still then it probably won't be enough to notice.
