codes and engine issues???

just got my remanned long block installed a couple weeks ago and took it out on its 1st voyage and had issues. think it may be with carry over parts from old engine though. noticed on hiway trip that it started riding ruff (65 mph), thought it was just texas roads but when i got off gas it smoothed out. when i got to my destination i turned truck off and then restarted and engine light came on. also on my way the a/c stopped cooling(looked and compressor isnt kicking in). i bought a code scanner and it gave me 3 codes... P0357 ignition coil g primary/secondary circuit malfuntion............ PO171 system too lean (bank 1)................................................ ......... PO174 system too lean(bank 2)...... also it seemed down on power, which would makes since i guess with those codes. any ideas before i take it in to mechanic in morning? could thes 2 issues be related? it ran great and cooled great and both went south about the same time... 2004 f150 lariat. 5.4l...

Check the connections on the COPs and make sure the hose from the air cleaner is on/tight.

Could have a loose/bad connection on the cops that would make it show the coil code.

The 171/174 is probably an air leak from something not hooked up. Also go over the PCV system to make sure everything is sound.

Coil On Plug

Did you do thiss work your self, or a shop?

If a shop did the long block for you then take it back, they should troubleshoot/fix it for free.

OK, they should be able to fix ya right up then. None of those codes should be too tough for them. At the worst you might have to buy a new coil, I would think, every thing else should be covered.

Good luck.

good news. they replaced one of the coils with a used one they had on hand. fixed the problem. didnt cost me a penny. my a/c works now too. i was wondering if the computer knew it was down on power and wouldnt let the a/c compressor kick on?? im relieved to find a quick and easy fix with no additional cost..

Good deal on the coil. But what did they find on the P0171 &174? Those codes are lean codes and have nothing to do with the coil.

im really not sure what they found on that. i guess i need to get back up there and ask him bout that. when i picked it up the mechanic that worked on it wasnt there, the shop owner called him and asked what coil he put on and if he did anything to the a/c but thats all i recall him asking about!
