Should I trade or not???

I have been looking for a supercrew with the 6.5ft bed. I have found one that is optioned identical to my truck. The only difference is I will be moving up to the supercrew.

My 2004 is in good shape cosmetically with 68,800 miles. Payoff is $16,000.

Their truck is a 2007 and are asking $26,325 with 58,800 miles. I have not looked at it yet as I have been trying to decide if it is worth it to me. My reason is for the extra room for my 9 month old girl.

Tell me what you think might be a good deal... Pictures of mine are in my album

Edmunds has you $4-5k upside down on your truck at the trade in value. Even if you talk them down $5k from the asking price, you're looking at adding $10k to your loan for an extra foot of cab and 10k less miles. Plus your loss on aftermarket parts if you have to rebuy.

I'd say it's a definite no go.

If I were you I'd wait until your current truck's paid off. I have my friends 1 year old and 5 year old in my truck with car seats about twice a week and they have quite a bit of room, granite not the room a super crew would have but they aren't cramped. I also don't have them in there all the time so I can't say what it's like, just giving my .02.

It would be a horrible deal on your part.

That 07 is marked WAY up and I would never pay over 20K for it. Especially with the upgrades the new trucks have and the prices that are being had for the mid 20's to low 30's on a brand spakin new truck.

Dealer should be asking $18950 or so for that Lariat. I would keep yours and continue paying on it. You are def upside down on your truck loan or right about even depending on how the market goes.

Not worth it at all. I wouldn't even be looking at dealerships until you get a lot more off your loan. I couldnt imagine you getting 10k worth of space, plus its used, and about 5 years old.

Yeah I agree with you folks. The truck is definitely marked up too much and not worth me trading really. I just caught myself looking online one night and my wants took over my needs. I really like my truck, especially since I got it set up the way I want it.

Thank you guys for steering me in the right direction. That is why I love this forum!

That is very true. Most of the mods on my truck are because of this forum. Good thing as far as I see.

As far as room goes, I've had my 2004 Super Cab since my son was born and he's 6 now. There's plenty of room for him back there. I prefer more real bed space. If I can even stick a 6 ft ladder in the bed without it sticking out, I don't want it. Others may not 'need' 6.5 feet of bed space, but I do. Even adults fit in the back seat just fine. I'd go for less debt. I like the fact that my truck is paid for, but in a few years I'd like to get a new one. If I were you I'd keep what you have unless room really is an issue for some reason. Like I said though, it wasn't an issue with my son, even with a baby seat facing backwards in the back seat.

You owe $16,000 on a 2004 with 68,800 miles? Yikes!

Not a big enough improvement to justify the price. Either run your current truck til the day she dies or look at the 12th gen trucks.

Actually it is $15000, I was a bit off on my estimate. I bought the truck when the market was thriving and paid too much for it then. They would not budge from their asking price so I had to make a decision. The rest it history. Looking back, I probably should have waited. You live and learn I guess. I do like my truck though and it has been good to me. It had 32,000 miles on it when I got it and it was a one owner truck too.
