front receiver hitch

If you have one built, or if you decide you can't find one like you want with reciever out the bumper up in the cavity, consider taking one like already shown and modifying it by cutting the reciever off and repositioning it after minor shortening, in a verticle position behind the cross tube. Then weld a draw bar flat steel at 90 degrees to a piece of 2x2x1/4 tubing and insert by pushing up into hole. You could cross drill the tube so when not needed, you insert with drawbar to left or right and out of the way?
Just a thought, we use smaller "verticle" recievers in 1-1/4" size on some motorcycles.
What you got against little girls?
Be a good way to end up with an order on the hood I think.
I know, just joking!

finally got it done and happy with the results. I ended up getting a Curt front receiver just to save some time and guess work in making mounting plates and measuring. Then I just cut it off the plates, flipped it upside down and added some more tubing and supports to raise it up to where i wanted it.

No problem. Yes, that's where we welded it back to the mounting plates. It needed to go a few more inches higher but that was as far up as we were comfortable going with it. We had to raise the receiver up some more with some square tubing and welded in some bracing (pics will explain this better). It has held up very well but i would only recommend straight line pulls with a winch. I have winched out several stuck SUVs and trucks with no problems.
