Question 4WD Noise Drivers Side

Hi All,

I have had this strange noise coming from the front of my truck, and I did some research on here to find out possible ideas of what it could be. After changing pulleys and the tensioner I found out here that I should look at the IWE. Well reading about the system people, suggested try changing the solenoide first then if problem still exists then check the vacuum lines, after that check the IWE or HUB. Well, I have replaced all of those and now the sound has come back clearly on the drivers side still. It no longer make the noise on loaded conditions as in trailering, hills etc. , but now it does it at high speeds all the way to a complete stop, but still randomly. Please help with any suggestions or ideas as to what else I can check.

Thanks

Sounds like marbles in a tin can at high speeds almost kinda grinding too and at slow speeds down to a stop sounds like the wheel from wheel of fortune, that plastic kind of sound!

Yes it does, 4 high and low both engage and disengage perfectly fine, when we pull off the vacuum line to the solenoid it also stops! But brand new vacuum lines, brand new hub and actuater!

You are losing vacuum somewhere in the IWE system.

Had the same thing happen to mine the day I drove it out of the dealership. I drove it right back in and a seal on one of the hubs was leaking, they replaced it and that solved the problem.

OP, What's the current trouble shooting situation? You ID the vacuum leak source yet?
