To sell or not to sell???

Ok, so my truck (05' 5.4) just passed the 105K mile mark. Truck has been trouble free the entire time I have had it. I have had a few people Kediler ve Köpekler make offers on it in the last few days, and knowing the issues the 05' trucks could possibly have, I have been contemplating it. So, should I stick it out and hope for the best, or move the truck and get into something else while I still can?

Truck needs a plug change, shocks and a window switch. Other than that it is holding up like a champ. Oh and almost being payed off helps alot. Opinions welcomed!

A tune up is cheaper than a new car. Keep driving it, take good care of it, and watch the odometer keep going.

Have you cleaned the contacts on the window switch?

Yes sir. Didn't fix the issue. Replaced the regulator and the front door switch, still no good. Going to replace the rear window switch and hope that fixes it. I had a thread around here a few months ago about it.

Circumstances forced me to buy a new truck and sell my 2005. She had 135,000 miles on her and was still running perfectly with no problems whatsoever. The only things I like better about the new one is the interior and the mpg. Oh, and the 5.0 is a lot more responsive. I like the looks of the 2005 better and loved that truck. I wanted to go to 250,000 on it and then decide what to do.

I'm in the same situation with 107 thousand and at this moment I couldn't ask for a better vehicle but come Feb. or March I'll be looking hard at 2010
one owner Lariats and Platinums. The reason is that I feel I'll probably be right
at the end for getting a half way decent price on a trade in. I thought about an 09 but, as I've heard often here, was the kick-off year for a new model and might be prone for problems.

Good incentives out there now for '11 models. Your truck is only going to depreciate more, so if you plan on selling in the next 2 years now is probably the time.

^agreed. if the thought already started doing the run-around in your head, i would take a stroll thru the dealership and see what you're up against economically, and also you'll get that doubt of selling and buying, or not

Buying new, no matter the incentives, is out of the questions. I refuse to be the one to take the hit on a truck rolling off the lot. I am, however, open to the idea of picking up a used truck with less than 30K miles that someone else took the hit on. Much like I did with my 05'. I guess we shall see how things go.

You should have stuck with your original plans, you seem like the type of guy who's on top of maitenance items. There is no reason that your 05 would have not gone the distance with proper care. The newer F-150's do nothing for me. I recently drove a 5.0 at work & around town it feels exactly like my 5.4 3v! Not really impressed! I still say the 04-08's look way better!........

I just bought a 2006 last month with 197,000 miles. I gave $7k for it, best of all it's PAID FOR. Since I don't have a payment I can do repairs as needed. No way I'm signing up for 6 years of $500+ payments on a new truck...

As another poster mentioned repairs are cheaper than a new truck.

have you looked at used truck prices? it was cheaper for me to buy a 2011 fx4 with much more options than a 2010 fx4 with no options.

my dad sold his 08 KR with 56k miles for a $4k loss of what he paid new for it.

Agreed, 1-3yr old F150's cost almost as much as new ones especially if they have low miles. If it's still under factory warranty they go for top dollar around here.

Private sellers are typically upside down and don't want to cough up the money to "give away" their truck. They would rather get it repoed if they can't make the payments. Dealers offer little discount on newer trucks vs. the price of a brand new one.

Either way mine is staying with me. Found an off the clock Ford tech to change the plugs for $150, so that is getting done soon. Need to break down and order some Bilstiens. Also need to have the winch bumper painted and get it put on. Lots of things on the to do list.

Although with all the bragging it ate another window regulator on my way to Atlanta last night. Shot in Mall of GA Ford and picked one up for $120, which is a lot cheaper than they go for at home. Will be putting it in at the fire station tomorrow.
