Odd Gauge Cluster Problem

As it is starting to get colder out here in MI I've noticed my gauge cluster has been sticking in the mornings, or anytime I let the truck sit and get colder for an extended period of time.

What happens is I'll get in the truck and start it and the entire gauge cluster will be stuck in the "off" position and almost look like its vibrating a little a bit. After about 10-15 seconds they will all bounce back to their respective positions and work fine while driving. Anyone have any sort of experience with this or know what I should do? I have also noticed that sometimes very early the truck kind of hesitates to start. Turn the key and it will sound like its going to die but then click over and start up fine.. Could this have anything to do with it or it just time for a new battery?

Thanks for the help everyone..

I would change out the battery first and see if the gauge cluster problem goes away.

That started happening to mine a week before the battery died

Same thing happened to mine. I started noticing it and thought it was just because of the cold, and about two weeks later the battery went bad.

Another vote for the battery, my gauge cluster was all sorts of screwy a week before the battery went out.

Thanks for the help everyone.. Replaced the battery today and while I was under there changed my serpentine belt to. Gauges are fixed and no more squeeling on startup! Runs like new!
