maybe new truck

I think my grandpa maybe giving me his 2005 f150 FX4 stepside for Christmas when I get my license it only has 35k and he wants a 2012 f150. Is there anything I need to know about the new body style f150s? Any issues? Its got the 3v 5.4 and he already changed the plugs at the dealer.

Nice Christmas present! The plugs are the main issue but be aware of the fuel onjector problem on the 05. I loved my 2005.

Oh ok I will definatly watch out for that, what about the transmission I've read alot about some people having issues in the 05 ? And isn't the injectors a recall?

loved my 05 fx4, but i only had it til 34000 miles. enjoy the present. thats pretty awesome. I never had an issue with mine. its the black truck in my gallery. Those are the only things ive heard about being wrong with them. As long as your grandpa has kept up on maintanence and you do as well, you should be fine.

The injectors are not a recall, just an extended warranty if there is an issue.

Yea I love the truck and he's done all the maintenance and I will to I'm big on talking care of stuff. I know its got 373 gears LSD I'm excited about. I love the fx4 wheels and it had superdutty lights on the roof and a bed cover and a bull bar.

You got rid of your 05? When did this happen? What are you driving now? Guess I have been away for a while. I was going to sell mine for something a little more gas mileage friendly but just haven't been able to bring myself to do it.

Your gonna love it man. I've had my 04 since I was 15. Bought it from my grandma and just worked from there. Just take good care of it and it'll take care of you!

the transmissions didnt have a specific failure year. they are all the same. many say they are faulty, but IMO its the people thinking they have superdutys and pulling out logs and doing burnouts that need transmissions. ive been changing my trans filter and the 5 quarts of fluid every 30 and my trans is just fine.

nice christmas present, youll love it.
