F150 solid axle swap conv.

Has anybody on here done a complete swap to solid front axles? Is it a costly ordeal? I drive a 2wd so this is an option vice selling it to buy a 4wd. Any inputs?

A good swap is easily over 15-20k.. Sure you can go cheaper but you wouldn't want to. It only goes up from there.

yes it is costly, even more so for you since you would need to buy a T-case and possibly do more wiring.

Run some D-60 axles front and rear.

it can be done for as little as 6K depending on the deals you get and what your fab skills are.

I'd just stick to buying a 4wd unless you really just want to spend lots of money.

neither. D60's is all you need for a SAS. Will be overkill until you are running over a 40" tire and abusing the 4wd.

For price, if you can do the work plan on a minimum of $5k assuming you get kick *** deals. i'd guess more in the 7-8k range running leaf springs (i'd go linked and add a couple grand to that price for parts) From your post i'm assuming you can't, and i'd at least double that number.

A member here just spent over $30k SAS his (he used the best parts possible on his, look up username ogterror)

Yeah dude it will cost a ton of money if done right. I would trade in your truck for a 4x4 and then mod it from there. Or buy an old beater and have it as a project. That way you will have your truck still as a DD and a prokect truck you can poor money into.

Price can add up very quickly if you want it done right and not have to mess with stuff constantly

I still wonder why you can buy a bolt on kit for chevy's all the way up to 2006 yet there is no SAS kit for the f150's. If a kit came out, price to do a SAS would drop significantly and the swap would be done much more often.
