Removing Gas Door

I have to remove my gas door so I can send it with my cap to have it color matched. Is there a way to just remove the door (painted part) or do I have to take everything off with the hinge?

Yes, just the door can be removed, I did this few yrs ago when I removed mine. Kinda drawing a blank right now. But from what I do remember I think you just hold onto the hinge and pull the cap either towards you or against it. There's like a pin thing in the cap that you put in the hinge then you just slide it on to line it up.

Maybe someone else will chime in to confirm

You can also search for one of them chrome doors, usually they show installation instructions.

Just looked at mine. There's a tiny little tab in the hinge mounted to the door, just carefully lift the tab with a small screw driver and it should slide right off..

Thanks for the help, I got it. I ended up breaking one of the taps but its nothing some plastic weld can't fix.
