Never again will I buy another POS Ford!

I know this will **** a lot of people off on here but today is the last straw for me. My 2007 F150 XLT has 133,000 miles on it and in those miles I've had to rebuild the tranny and rear end, the ac went out on it last week, it eats brakes like crazy, I've had electrical problems, and I've had to replace a couple of power steering hoses. This doesn't include all of the minor retarded engineering details on this truck. Like today, just like every time I've had to replace the air filter, that piece of junk is almost impossible to put back together.

Sorry just had to vent but if this truck weren't paid off, it'd be gone. Chevy or Toyota next time for me please. I'm done with Ford.

Sorry to hear about all the problems you have had with this truck. When did you purchase it? How many miles were on it when you purchased it? If you purchased new, I'll tell you like it is, then I think you got your use out of it. How much longer were you gonna keep it anyway.

I purchased it brand new in '07. The tranny went out at 69,000 miles. I've always done all the maintenance and never abused it. It should go way farther than 133,000 miles!

Sucks to hear about all the problems. There are lemons out there and ive had one before, it sucks. Was in the shop at least 50 times in one year, all for warranty work. It was traded and have loved the new truck ever since. To top it off it was the coveted 7.3 powerstroke, which will never be an engine in my driveway ever again. But since ive owned my 04 for the last 50k miles I haven't had one problem out of it. Just luck of the draw I suppose.

Bummer, some guys just get unlucky and end up with a lemon. What engine does it have?

The last truck I had was a 4.2 Heritage long bed straight cab. Turned into a money pit after 100K and traded it in at 114K. My current truck has 101K on it, and has been as solid as can be. Sorry to hear of your troubles, but give Ford another shot--you'll be pleasantly suprised, I bet.

Maybe you should have let someone else work on your truck if you've been gagging trouble installing an air filter. . .

It happens, but really though...an air filter? Idk about other engines but my 5.4 is the easiest filter change of all the trucks I've done. Sorry about your bad experience.

Air filter? I let my 3 yr old nephew change that. If it were any easier, it would change itself.

You seriously would do well to look into some of the problems that Chebby and Toy-ota have.

Looking at his previous posts, I believe he has the 4.6. As for replacing stuff, you are going to find that on any vehicle you own for 133k mi. Maybe not the tranny, but most definitely the other stuff you listed.

the air filter on the 3v 5.4 is very easy to change. I can pull it off blind folded, with one finger.

with the exception of the tranny and rearend the rest seem like minor repairs on a high mileage truck.

My truck has almost 106k and the biggest repair it needed was having all the bearings in the rearend replaced at 96k last fall.

Theres been other issues that were relatively minor like the reverse sensors and multifunction switch and an airbag sensor but for the most part its been a great truck and Im hoping to get another 100k out of it.

If you have trouble replacing an air filter, you don't need to own a vehicle.

Know Thy Self

I've got to agree with some of the other guys -- if changing an air filter seems like Rubic's Cube, perhaps you're not quite the mechanic you think you are.....

And coming from a guy who's owned a GM vehicle or two (or is it tow?), if you think that going the "Chevy route" is the answer to your problems then prepare to be bitterly disappointed.....

my 02 has 160+ on the clock, the only thing that I have done to it has been pads/rotors, oil, two sets of tires, diff fluid, and one serpintine belt. The only thing that I have done that was actually repair was a fuel pump. You are either un capable of keeping up with regular maintainence or are unlucky, neither of which should be a reason to not buy Ford. Thats coming from a cruise control fire victim.
