What floor jack to get??

What floor jacks are everyone using? I'm looking into getting a floor jack for my 06 f150 4.6l and my wife's 2010 Edge Sport to do brakes and what not. I was looking at some jacks at harbor freight and the one I'm looking at has good reviews and I can get one for $70 on sale plus 20% off but it's a 2.5 ton would that be enough fir my truck? It's a Pittsburgh rapid pump part# 68049. Also I'm looking to get a set of their 6 ton jack stands. Anyone have any experience with either?

I have a Craftsman 3 ton service jack and four Craftsman 3 ton jack stands. Happy with them for the years I have had them. Only dislike with the jack is the 2 piece chinese quality handle, and it wouldn't fit under my lowered Neon.

I got mine from Harbor Freight, not sure what brand or model but it had good reviews. Use it on everything from my son's Tiburon to my lifted truck, lifts with ease.

I'd recommend a 3.5 ton jack especially for the front of your truck and the setting of jack stands....

a 2.5 ton will work for one wheel at a time or the rear but that's about it...

I went for years wanting a floor jack .... and a floor to roll it on. Now I have some concrete and about 15 years ago I bought
a 3 ton Craftsman floor jack and a pair of 3 ton (ea) stands .... a sale at Sears. I have loved that jack, and I keep stands close by.

I also have use for smaller lighter jacks and have a couple of the 1.5 ton aluminum jacks (68053 / 69252 / 60569) from
Harbor Freight using coupons (one was $49.99 last year, the other more recently $59.99 .... with reg price $119.99).
They work great, easy to move, and I hang them on the wall between studs. Only my 3 ton jack stays on the floor in a corner.
My older 1.5 ton steel floor jacks are light too, one stays in the truck, one is converted to help with bikes, etc.

As I write this I see I have some coupons for HF's 3 ton rapid Pump Steel floor jack, #68048 or # 69227 for $69.99 (reg $139.99
.... technically, that 20% discount coupon isn't supposed to be combined with another coupon
).

Just yesterday I bought my 1 ton portable crane (cherry picker) there (69512) for $99.99 ..... I couldn't buy the steel, cut and paint it for near that.

I also had heavy wooden ramps I built but last year bought my "Rino Ramps" at Advance Auto Pts ... those things are safe and so light and easy to
hang out of the way!

I bought my offbrand 3.5 ton jack from a local wholesale tool shop for around $120 because of the many poor reviews I'd read on the craftsman branded jacks. I'm normally a pro-craftsman guy, but their toolboxes and jacks seen to be sub par these days due to the Chinese manufacturing.

I am a fan of Craftsman. Even though I can't get a jack to last over 8 years, I use it regularly so I can't complain. Before I bought my f150 I had a 3 ton Craftsman. When that one died I bought a 4 ton craftsman. I'm happy with it.

Any car that can"t fit over my jack goes onto home made wood ramps, then the jack fits just fine under it.

I just bought the 3 ton from Harbor Freight. I previously used my neighbors Costco 3 ton and the Harbor Freight is much nicer. My friend has 2 of the Harbor Freight 3 ton and works on a lot of cars. He has never had a problem. Using the 20% or 25% off coupon helps also!!

This is the one they sell at Costco. It rocks:

I quit buying most craftsman stuff after my bench vice that was craftsman, but made in china, crumbled in my hands.

Don't get me wrong, most of my tools are craftsman and have never failed me. When it came time to look at larger floor jacks (I had a small 2 ton jack at the time) I just saw too many negative reviews across dozens of websites for me to be comfortable with. I don't have any personal experience with any of their floor jacks, though. I hear the same thing about their tool boxes, at least until you get to their "Professional" line which is in the $1K+ price range, and have seen enough evidence to support those reviews.

craftsman 3ton user here, I bought the christmas special with stands and a creeper in the same box for 100. Creeper fell apart after a couple years tho.

I also recommend getting a set of taller 3 ton stands for doing truck work
