FX4 Max Tow Mirror Swap--Inverted

FX4 Max Tow Mirror Swap--Inverted
I know most people are swapping out their paddle mirrors for the tow mirrors, but I went the other way and now have a few questions. The tow mirrors were great, but had to be folded in to fit in my garage. I was hoping the 2010 was power fold so I could use them, but no go so my cousin and I traded--his 2005 KR paddles for my 2009 FX4 Tow Mirrors. We switched the pins 8 and 11 and everything worked great on the KR. But not quite on the 09 FX4.
--The passenger turn signal is not working, I think I need to add a ground at pin location #2, but can't figure out why driver side works fine.
--Is it possible to make the power fold option work using the factory setup. I plan to purchase the KR/Platinum control, but I read a post where soneone else tried and couldn't get it to work.
Thanks for your help, N8-126.

The memory on the '05 did nothing with the exterior mirrors.
The pin 8 & 11 swap is only valid on the 04-06 & 07-08 MY mirror swaps, the 09-10 mirror swap you have a few additional changes.
The 09 mirror head, pin 8 is a common ground to the heater, lamp and signal.
The 05 mirror pins 2, 9, 11 are all grounds that are spliced external to the mirror head, 2= turn signal ground 9=heater ground 11= puddle lamp ground.
The 05 side mirror on the 09:
You have the correct ground for illumination ( puddle lamp ) with pin 8 - 11 swap.
Pins #2 & #9 both need to be changed to ground ( don't just ground what is there, that is the autodim driver's side mirror control on your 09 )
This needs to be done on both the driver's and passenger's side mirror connectors.
At the moment you are using the autodim - for the ground on the signal, and if you would have tested it, the heater not work ( autodim mirror + signal ) on the driver's side, and the passenger side is hanging in the air for the signal and heater.
Cut the wires to pins #2 & 9, and change them to a ground ( can splice into the existing ground in the door ) on both sides, and it should work.
If the autodim mirror control takes off at night, the signal or heater on the driver's side might stop working.

I measured the KR mirrors last night. They are about 97" wide-edge to edge. I don't have the towing mirrors but they literally touched both sides of my garage door when I tried to pull in. My garage is 9' (108") with a 1/2" trim piece on both sides so I would guess that the Towing Mirrors are about 107" wide.
D4studmuf1n--When folded in, I think the towing mirrors and paddle mirrors are the same width. The truck measures about 83.5" with the mirrors folded in.

I finished the wiring for my reverse mirror swap. Thanks to SSCULLY it was pretty easy.
To put 05 KR paddle mirrors on an 09 FX4 (replacing towing mirrors) you need to:
1) Purchase a 9 Position Female D-Sub Connector (part # 276-1428) from RadioShack (~$1.50). The female pins in this connector are a good match for the factory connector.
2) Make the mirror swap leaving the connector disconnected.
3) Use a needle from the back side of the connector (wire side) to release the latch on pins 8 and 11. Swap these pins so that 8 is in 11s spot and vice versa.
4) On the driver side pull out pin number 9 and protect it so that it can not make contact with anything (I wrapped mine with electrical tape). This is the autodim mirror + wire. Then insert a new pin (from RadioShack) into slot number 9 with a 6 inch piece of 20 AWG wire. Ground this wire to the mirror bolt. I will attach a photo later today.
5) On the passenger side place a ground wire/pin assembly in slot 9 and 2. Then ground both wires to one of the mirror bolts.
