Diesel or not?

its not a rumor. its planned for 2010. i seen it on inford today(used for info at work) planned to have a diesel and eco-boost by 2010. the 6.2 IS a rumor. no official info about it anywhere UNLESS it is going to be the eco-boost engine, which is doubtfull. the largest eco boost i have heard of so far is a 3.5 V6...

That said, I'm not going to get too excited about a v6 in an F-150 or a Mustang for that matter, regardless of what it can do.

There is potentially a lot to like. Especially with the direct injection, God only knows what the boost limit is going to be on that thing. 20, 30psi???
I've heard people talk about the possibility of a twin turbo 4.6 or 5.4, but I believe that would be out of the question. An engine such as that would be a complete beast, and probably not very "Eco."

Your mileage is going to go into the toilet and for a 1/2 ton, it might even go into a temp limp mode. Oh and your warranty is going to be void on any powertrain issues immediately.
As far as the general topic, the key is going to be how much cost is going to be involved? I paid 30k for my XLT. How many people are going to want to pay 35k for a 1/2 ton? With a 1/2 ton diesel, the lines between 1/2 and 3/4 ton will be even more blurred. I'd love to have the torque of my dearly departed 7.3PSD in this truck. Thing would be as perfect as possible.

2 other Lion diesel versions, the 2.7L V6 and 3.6L V8 already debuted in the European Jaguar S-type and in the Land Rover and Range Rover. The V6 was getting an impressive 49 mpg on the highway, so we'll see what happens in the V8's. Can't wait until she comes out next year!

The smoke is going to make the computer cause the engine to go into regen mode. Regen mode dumps raw fuel into your exhaust to burn off that smokey soot trapped in the new catalytic converter.

As far as the specs go, it will be a Lion 4.4L V8 (296 ci) with twin VGT turbos. It will be a DOHC 32-valve with a high-pressure common-rail with piezo injectors and an air-to-air intercooler. Should be rated around 350 hp and 500 lb-ft of torque.
