I guess I am wrong. Sorry. There were so many things on the 2008's that weren't changed or imporoved upon. After a closer look, they do look like they just took most of the truck and dropped it on the same frame. Of course, how else would they get the same old engines in a new 2009 truck.

In a way, it's one of the good things about this refresh. I feel a lot more confident that it will have a lot less problems than back then. Sure they changed some stuff, but the basic structure is still intact, and I'm sure they FINALLY must have taken some of the rattle/squeek/whine complaints seriously and looked into fixing those issues. Really seemed like they ignored a lot of people back in '04 and '05, can recall many dealership and Ford headquarters complaints from many posters here. Didn't hear too many problems since the '06's rolled off the assembly line few years back, so that's positive.

Blue2000, did any of them stand out? Guess I'm just wondering if it's obvious they are new, or if it'd be easy for the average joe to not see any difference between an '09 and an '04-'08? Also, any trim level or color(s) stand out to you?
Yes, right away I noticed the front Grille, more obvious was the Platinum, some had the look of the 04-08 in side views, the rears you could tell, the fronts were obvious but not as much as the new Dodge per say. Colors were normal, different shades of familiar colors beit lighter or darker. I'm thinking it's the Lariat I saw, Platinum, FX-4 and the king Ranch. If you like the 04-08's, these will not dissappoint at all. I'll see them again I'm sure so I'll get more details. I also see late at night these cars that have the coverings on them, Ford's maybe? But it's on my return to Detroit after midnight so it's hard to tell.

If you can work out a nice trade from the old model to the new one, let me know. From what I've seen so far, the value of these trucks when it comes to trade-in's is really poor. Will be looking to see what kinds of deals people start getting from dealerships, especially for '04's Lariat's as that's what I have.

At first I didnt really like it but now I love them! I really want a superduty PSD but I really don't need it and they ride like a tank! When the 09's come out and I don't like them then I guess i'll break down and get a superduty. I would love either a red supercab FX4 with black leather or a black on tan supercab lariat with tan leather. Only If I could get leather 40/20/40 FX4 I would have no problems deciding, I'm not sure I want another truck with the center console. Me being 6'5 340 I would like the extra room that you get without the center console(I guess I could just lose 40 lbs hahaha). Right now there are so many "unknowns" about the 09's it would be hard to decide.

Lets see...I get a 1998 F-150, totally paid off with only 25,000 miles on the engine, only 2,000 on the trannie, brand new brakes, and probably the best looking base model 1998 Ford in North Florida all while getting 20 mpg? I'll stick with my truck until I'm at least out of college a few years. You guys can have your truck payments. All I pay is gas + insurance. Feels good to have money in my pocket...

Now if that turbo EcoBoost V6 comes out, thats a totally different story!

I hear ya, same here. I've had my '04 paid off for 2 or 3 years now. I'd be tempted if I could get 20k for my '04 and buy a Platinum for 40k paying off said 20k immediately, but the values seem to be pretty low for '04's; and the price of gas is certainly another fact in buying yet another F-150.

What to do... at least I found out my wedding will be paid for, now all I have to worry about is buying a home (always maxing out 401k #1 priority obviously), and of course wanting a new F-150.

Nice driving around in a paid-off vehicle isn't it Raptor? I never want to go back to a vehicle loan ever again, buy outright or not at all. In fact, a few days ago I even paid off my girlfriend's car. Now she's debt free just like myself. Of course, a home (massive debt) looms over the horizon...

Maybe seeing that crappy new GMC across the street is making me want a new F-150 even more, who knows...

I'm buying........

....an 08', and right in the nic of time too !

I'll be getting one of the last, great looking Ford trucks, with a nice, fat $4500 rebate to boot ! :-)

I guess the 09's are not that awefully bad looking, but that's only because they haven't changed too much. Only problem is, everywhere I do see a difference, it's to the negative. One things for sure... that grille will be turning more stomachs than heads. BTW, when did Ford hire the Scion people to design those ???

Then again, the 09' Ford is not as horrible looking as the 08' and 09' Chevy's ! Now those are some monstrosities ! What a shame, for such a well designed (mechanically, and interior comfort) truck.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Of course, with all of this said, when buying a truck, I tried hard to pay more attention to how it was built, and how it will last, than I did looks. Heck, if I didn't look at it this way, I'd probably have stuck to a Toyota. I think the Tundras look bad-***..... But I needed "a truck"...... Not a fast, flashy sports car, with a truck bed attached to it.
Stoked about my 08' F150 :-) .....but say it came in completely wrong.... twice in a row... and now I was past the 08' re-order date.... Yes, I'd switch to something else, before I got an 09'. Maybe even a used, but like new 08'......
Just MPO...... but I'm always out there in left field somewhere anyway.... so don't mind me :-)
Peace,
Fish
If the 6.2L was available I'd get a 505A/W14 145 with the 153, 58B, P86F, (Q) 53M(which has the 54R & 67T), 76C, dealer installed 18A, 63T, we’d consider 43M given overhead rail system is gone, and also consider 50S pending price. Color would be UA/JB. Nice truck!!!
The upgraded rear springs has me intriged with the 53M... & 18" wheels
The 2009 F-150 is pretty much ALL new from the bottom up. From chassis design to the interior.
The front suspension and steering are all new with better ride characteristics, Caster and camber. The rear has longer 3" wide leaf springs for better lateral stiffness. The frame is stiffer and so on.
The super crew is 6" longer in the cab (but still offers the 5.5' box) for those who still want to park in the garage.
The interior is awesome!
However, If you are not sure about the 09's. Go get an 08. There are a ton of incentives right now and it is also an awesome truck!!
I want a new truck. My loyality to Gm means nothing. I really like the new body style of the 09 F-150 and the 09 Ram has got me looking at it as well. GM styling dose not get me excited, I kinda like the cat eye grill of my GM truck, But its a love it, or hate it deal.
Ford, Dodge and Gm all have a hell of a lot of dirt on them, Not from working the talk, but from recalls and bad vibes from all the brand owners.
In the end, I drive them all, even the Japp trucks and hope don't get bent over...
