Guess what I got to bring home for a day

Might not be such a bad idea. Seeing as there's a rumor the Ranger is done after 2009, an F100 might have a market. If it had roughly the same stats as say the 1997-1999 F150...perhaps 250-300 HP, 300 ft/lbs, could tow 6500 lbs, carry 1500 lbs AND get close to 20-25 MPG, that might be a winner. Maybe a bit smaller ecoboost v-6 than what's slated for the '10 F150, like perhaps a 3.0 version.
I have to say something like that would be more of what I could use (overall) for my contractor business instead of these 400HP 1/2 tons. I have no need for that much HP or need anywhere near that much torque. I don't have to tow 10,000lbs or need living room space for the back seat. I understand there are guys that do. What I NEED is an 8' bed, supercab and the best fuel mileage possible. My '98 4.6 2WD 150 does just fine. It's just getting old.

i hated this truck at first but as i see live action pics i really like it.i did want to comment on the f100 thing.i think its about time ford made a midsize type truck.that is a market all its own.the ranger is so puny and the ownership satisfaction of the ranger is low.i am wondering though, does that mean the end of the sport trac?i know it isnt really a truck but it kinda is.i wonder what the future is gonna do being this truck is coming out in the height of record fuel prices as well as a bad economy.the prices of these trucks are getting really high.there are f150s that cost 50k.that is insane and these new trucks cant be any better in price.i hope ford knows what they are doing being the f150 is the flagship vehicle.

These newer trucks are starting to grow on me (minus the crappy 80's decals)...but the one thing that bugs the **** out of me is that they added all of these buttons on the center dash, but kept the stupid twist **** for the four wheel drive. It's 2008....the only place a twist **** belongs is maybe the volume control on the radio. Coming from a few GM trucks...the one thing that almost kept me from buying my F150 was the stupid twist ****...oh and the lack of auto 4-wheel..handy for driving in michigan winters. I know that sounds pretty stupid, but those are things that irk me more than the lack of more hp and more gears in this truck.

SD upfitter switches fit '09 dash opening/coin hole?
Little off topic, but until they are available doesn't make sense asking an '09 question in the electrical/mechanical subforums yet.
DD, since you're the only one here with access to an '09, does it seem like the upfitter switches from a super duty could fit in an '09 in the unused space across from the trailer tow controller on the dash? Not sure why it's not an option on the '09, but those upfitter switches would sure come in handy.
Also not sure why the upfitter switches are installed as unusable unless the ignition is given power, but I'm sure that's easily rectified being they are just very basic on/off toggles.
Anyways, just curious if it looks like the openings are the same size? Hard to tell by the pics of '09 and super duty if opening is same or not. Would be great if they were!
