Platinum

Has anyone seen a Platinum? I ordered one several weeks ago. My dealer says the only info he has is that it should be built in early December.

Might have been that date 1 or 2 days ago. They now have a delay that has put the del dates back about 2 months from what ford have told me. None are being shipped from the factory at all so your 31st of oct date has gone down the drain like my oct 22nd date has.

After touring the Dearborn facility on Thursday, it's very evident that the trucks are starting to roll to the holding lots. The word out of Dearborn is that they will be releasing their builds to the market 'very soon'. When asked 'how soon', the response was 'very soon'.

Juding by the line rate on Thursday (around 60% of capacity -- in the process of ramping up) and the number of trucks that were presented while we were driving the property, I'd guess we'll hear of an official release 'very soon' as well -- my guess, within the next week.

on another forum they were talking about a supplier issue for the Platinum, causing the delay. But they didn't say exactly which supplier or what part(s)?

so if a supplier can't supply a part, find a new supplier or just change that design and make it in house.

While that may be the exact case, it wasn't what was communicated to us at the media event. Rather, they noted that they were completing final quality testing on a few items (nothing specific was noted) before they released them from the holding yards. Plus, I'd say that they need to build an inventory before they release as the line speed was only at a tad below 60% last week. With a low line speed, they could run out of vehicles in a jiffy.

Going back to work next week...for just one week. Made the short list of people to be called in and cover the people that will be off on halloween night...It may just be one week, but now I know how close to the top of the list I am now.

Thats good to hear derek. Let us know what parts were the problem on the delays if ya find out. I find it crazy that a part can make it delayed by over 2 months. I hope that it's not a bigger problem.
