No max tow is 6 lugs.... HD pkg is 7. Not available on Screw, yet. Maybe 2010?

If anyone sees max tow take a pic of rear leafs and rear bumper/hitch. Someone thought rear hitch of max tow class 4 is integrated w/rear bumper?

I didn't take pics at the ford dealer when the engineers were there with the new one but it was a max tow. It didn't have a helper spring like you see in a F-350 vs F-250. It just has a spring added to the leaf pack. Looks like a very light duty 3/4 ton spring pack, like a 250 spring w/ the biggest leaf out. Truck was nice but it wasn't any faster then our company expedition in the seat of the pants feel.

So it looked like my 04 with a group of 3, then the thick one on the bottom?

Ok I think I figured it out. I've seen @ 6 09s so far at various dealers. Not one had max tow pkg. Yet all with 20" wheels had 4 leafs. All w/18's had 3 leafs. So they hadd the 4th leaf to the 18's IF you get the max tow. Clear as mud?

Now why does 20" get your 4th leaf? No clue? Help handling??????

I dunno, I didn't count springs to be honist I think that it had 5 leafs if I'm not mistaken. I'd have to check it out again though.

Found a max tow on a lot today w/18's. Had 4 leafs. Every other one with 18's has had 3. Every one w/20s has 4. Still not sure why 20
's = one more leaf.... ?

i'd suspect that the 20" wheel adds quite a bit of unspring weight. Adding a leave probably takes some hop/bounce out of the 20s to make it ride smoother. the 20s alsome come with a special shock.

Given the overall diameter of the 18 and 20 are the same (at least they used to be) wouldn't the 18 be heavier? Isn' the tire heavier than the wheel? (In this case anyway)

i'm not sure but usually the rim has some weight to it, hence why it takes longer to stop a truck on 20s vs a truck on 24s even if the outside diameter is the same.
