Wow. I remember the talk of cabin air filters back in 2004! In fact, for some reason there is even mention of them in the 2004 manual, even though they don't exist in 2004 (or any year thereafter I assume as well).

Actually, they did exist. There's a kit you could get from Ford that would allow one to be installed.

Yep thats true, but its big money.
If i remember right the kit for my 04 woudl have been like 400 bucks and they even even offered a kit for my 02 Lightning which was also 3 ro 4 hundred. I never bought one for either truck but I know they exsisted.

Funny how Honda has been installing them std equipment on most cars for 15 years.

FORD are you listening??

It's actually incredible just how dirty the air we breathe really is. Just look at your engine air filter for proof. My wife has pretty bad asthma so we had a HEPA system installed in our house a couple years back. The difference between the inside and outside air is amazing.

Most cabin filters do nothing for the quality of air you breath inside the vehicle. They simply help keep the heater and a/c coil cleaner and working more efficiently. They don't filter particulates small enough to improve breathing quality unless its a HEPA filter.

as much as i agree with you, all the clean air i would breathe in my truck would be negated by being outside, and in the shop 8-10 hours a day.

That's one of the perks of being healthy, we can deal with the effects of the air we breathe. People with breathing disorders like my wife don't have it so easy. I never thought anything of it either until she developed asthma a few years ago.

I live in phoenix, we have high pollution advisories almost 2-3 times a week, and in the desert......there is a massive amount of dust in the air all year round. I would be changing that filter about once a month or more. Besides, I drive with the windows down all year long, so it would be beyond pointless. I just find it funny that people think Ford is stupid for not having one and consider it a huge negative.

Keep some respirators inside the truck. It will do a better job than a punky cabin filter. The police will really notice you too.

I just rolled west through phoenix a couple hours ago... Man, it was a nice 109. I'd take the dry west air over the humid nasty southern air any day! Lots of nice trucks in your part of AZ btw...
