No auto - manual fold, extend.

I saw a royal red platinum today in person. Normally not a huge fan of any shade of red but that color really looks good on the platinum.

Me too! Dark grey was my second color choice.
Thanks trolls - the royal red is a cool color.

Question

jvos, just noticed it looks from your pic as if the driver side Platinum scuff plate is coming up in the middle or something. Perhaps it's just the pic, was just curious if there was an issue with it or not? Thanks.

When I find it, I'll post it back on here....

BTW, Congrats on the new truck, and WHERE ARE THE PICS!!!!
I agree. That commercial is pretty funny. But still, while I would not get that option, anyone that may need assistance would love the step. I stopped by the dealership the other day to price a new one and used the step just for fun to see what its like. I could see it coming in handy.

I haven't seen that commercial, but seems lame they'd attack a feature that makes the truck easier to use. Wouldn't you attack a feature if it was useLESS, not useFULL? Rather ridiculous in my opinion.

Here's a link to a couple of their ads, vs. F-150 and vs. Tundra.

One thing the ad does showcase is just how high a 4x4 pickup is, and how handy that step will come in. Check out the height between the ground and the bed on that F-150 in the ad. That's a lot of height to traverse by picking your foot up to the rear bumper and boosting your whole body up to that level. I do it on my '04 all the time and it's a pita. I'll take the step, thank you very much (and I will on my upcoming '09). I just won't be a fat disheveled dude, almost missing the step and walking like a girlie-man while using it (like in that ad).

Boy, is the 150 so beautiful compared to the chevy or what.

I assume it is a photo flaw as the plate is laying nice and flat.

I love it! I had a Lund tri-fold on my 05 FX4. It is VERY handy as you can fold it back and clip it without completely removing it. And to completely remove it takes like 3 mins. I have a Extang Trifecta on my Platinum and its virtually identical to the Lund.

Excellent. When I saw it in the photo it looked warped in the middle and I started thinking back to 2004 and all the issues that cropped up shortly after release. Threads and threads long. Please, none of that for 2009.

PS I am SO happy to hear several people talk of the quiet interior of the Platinum. That to me is a huge deal. My 2004 drives me to insanity sometimes. Now I can deal with it, as it's just a waiting game for my 2009now.
