Its pretty easy. The only thing I see that "may" be different is the muffler's in and out are in line with each other. I cannot remember on my 2004 if it was a staggered setup or like my 09. The Flowmaster muffler I bought was offset in / offset out (same side). All I needed to do then was add about 12" of pipe and a couple custom rigged hangers.

If your local exhaust shop can't make it work, I wouldnt go to them. Its not that different at all. In fact, since you have a 2006, have you tried just installing the Corsa exhaust. The hangers may be the same and it may fit, or do you just have the muffler?

Toolcrib,

All my local shop had to do to install a 6" x 18" Magnaflow was add a small section of pipe.

04xltsc,

I had forgotten how small the factory tires looked on the 18" wheels until I saw your pic. I personally think 285x65x18 tires look good on the factory 18" wheels.

In all honesty I did not listen to any clips before posting but it look to me like an 8.8" diff at first glance. I guess I assumed it was from a smaller motor. What diff is it? I thought all 5.4s came with the 9.75"

Do you have a link for the tip? I couldn't find a 2.75" one that seemed to look anything like yours in the price range you mentioned.

Or simply summit part number SUM-690054. On sale right now for $18.95. You really can't beat that for a polished stainless tip. I recently went back to a stock exhaust though and got the gibson 2.75" stainless tip. Its more expensive, but just a little bit nicer.

At any rate, 2.5 inch pipe will fit just inside of 2.75" pipe which is handy since they dont make mufflers for the stock size pipe. See the pics below of how I did this in the driveway. I couldnt wait so I crawled under the truck in a snow storm when it was 13 degrees out. You can get the same stainless tip from summit for only 20 something dollars. A great bargain and it is the exact 2.75" inlet size.

Here's how I adapted the stock hanger

that hanger will rust out real fast. i had a couple of those . they rusted and broke off, had to get the stainless from summit

I did paint that hanger first just for that reason. But like I said, maybe its because im getting older, but the exhaust was just too loud for me. It droned like crazy right at 70mph which is cruising speed. So I went back to the stock exhaust.

Also, its a offset offset (SAME SIDE) muffler. A center/center will work as well, I just wasnt sure about the clearance on one side. If anyone wants this muffler, let me know. It is still almost brand new (about 3 weeks of use). I also tried a really nice Magnaflow muffler which ended up being just about as loud as the flowmaster, but it also resonated right at around 70mph and was annoying.

I'm with you 04xltsc. I like the quietness of the stock muffler at cruising speeds. I just want a nicer exit.
