09' F-150's front end (those black boxes)

Ok, first off I'm totally envious of all you new, proud, 09' F-150 owners out there. I drool over pics of your new rigs daily, so thanks for posting them. However, I have one question. What are those two rectangular black boxes on the front end just above the tow hooks? Is there anything functional about them or is it just the design? I've searched on this but haven't found anything. Just curious, thanks.

FMC refers to them as overriders. I believe they are there to minimize damage from bumping into things. My guess is a lot of guys and gals slightly bump stuff with the front of their trucks when parking because they are so big/hard to see. A little bump on the overriders and you'll stop, bypassing damage to your actual bumper.

I think it's a great idea, though I've heard one or two on here who don't like the look of them for some reason. But I like the taillights too, so maybe it's just me.

I think the only thing I'd do with my truck on Day 1 would be to remove the front license plate bracket. Then I'd see about getting those Upfitter Switches in that TBC hole.

CometFlash...it IS just you!! JK - I like the looks as well...am sure the afternmarket will come out with the matching "grill accent piece" like they did for the '04 - '08 to hide the gap.

Cometflash, I cant wait for you to get an 09 so I can see what you are doing with the upfitter switchs. If it works out for you I am doing, I just dont want to be the first to mess something up. haha!

To bad the aftermarket wouldnt come up with something, I would like to be able to utilizes the switches when the key isnt in the run position to.
