Can you easily take it off if you need to? And does it hold up under snow pressure during the long cold winter months?
Steve, I agree with CF - looks great because you can't really see it. Another question - does it lock and does if feel secure...how easy would it be for someone to break into it?

thx

I got the same (or very similar set) for my '05 Screw from "www.mossmotors.com" the perfectly matched the factory jamb liners and do offer great protection

I'm planning to buy a Bakflip cover for my 09 XLT and there is no external lock on it. However, you have to lower the tailgate and pull a latch to open it. Since the 09's have a locking tailgate, this means one less key to fumble around for.

^yes, just like CnA mentioned, no key needed. also you have to close the tailgate first before closing the last panel on the cover. The HD version is made of solid aluminum panels, I don't think you can break in that easily unless you try to smash it with a sledgehammer or axe! LOL

If you install a electronic tailgate lock and wire it up with your keyless entry, then it's like you have a big locked trunk back there. I don't plan on installing the electric lock since I park in a garage overnight and at a secure facility all day for work. I'll just lock the tailgate with my key as needed.

here's some more photos, I put the Carriage Works lower bumper black billet grille just to cover up that opening, and I got my Husky mud guards painted to match. Didn't get them entirely painted, left the part on the bottom black. I know not everyone's into mud guards, but I like to keep the bottom sides of my truck protected. So I figured painted to match would help them blend in better that just regular black ones.

I think the mud flaps look good, how much did it cost to have the mud flaps painted? I was looking at doing that myself, but haven't priced it yet. Or did you do it yourself?

Thanks.

paid just $60 to have them painted. We've been using the same body shop for awhile now and he doesn't mind painting small stuff like this for us, and doesn't charge too much either. He just takes forever though! He had my flaps for 3 weeks before he painted them.

Steve great looking truck. Honestly I think it looks better with the mud flaps. You might not hear that again lol. I don't know why everyone is so non-mud flap.

I find that i dont really need the mud flaps but it's very rare my truck see's any off road. So far the paintwork is in great condition. But i aint keen on the way they look on the platinum. They mess up them clean lines the platinum has.

I don't off road but the roads around here can be crappy and have tar/chips from poor patch jobs. I didn't wash my truck for 2 weeks because I was out of town and there was lots of black tar spots on the sides. On my old silver FX4 with factory mud guards, there was a lot less tar/dirt thanks to the mud guards. So hopefuly now my Platinum will be protected much better.

My next paint mod might be the 2 reverse sensors on the rear bumper. I don't like how the black sensors stand out and my body shop guy said he could painted them for me. You do see them painted on other Ford and Lincoln cars/suvs.

I was thinking about that the other day and put a piece paper infront of the sensor to see if it come on and it did so im not sure if they will have to be calibrated once you cover them with paint. I would like to do this also if they do work without claibration.

Love the truck pics.

JMO, but the mudflaps make it look like a Toyota. But then again, maybe wear you live dictates function over form?

^yes, I know not everyone likes them but I am mainly using them for pure function/protection. I've seen newer Escalades that have painted mud guards too, not sure if that's a new factory option or what.

Barritia I'm not sure how you calibrate the reverse sensors. I was hoping to just buy them already painted from another Ford/Lincoln car, but they only sell them paint to match. As long as the paint isn't applied too thick/too many coats, then they should function just fine my body shop guy said.

That would be cool if they can just be sprayed. What i have noticed with thr ford reverse senseing system is it only uses 2 sensors. Every other car i have had and car we have now has either 4 or 6 sensors but the 2 sensor ford system seems to cover the same areas???
