my Platinum accessory photo thread

some people were asking for more pics, so I'll start this photo thread and keep it updated as I add some minor stuff.

So far I only got:
35% front window tint (tried 20% first but seemed way too dark for my taste)
Bakflip HD folding cover
rear door sill protectors
removed 4x4 bed stickers

Waiting for:
Husky painted mudguards (body man is painting them today, he only had them for the past 3 weeks!)
Carriage Works black lower bumper billet grille (needed something to cover that opening for now)
Extra set of Platinum rims from fellow forum member so I can put on BFG AT KO LT285/55/20 for fall/winter setup
Weathertech Floorliner set (rear mat should be out in 2 weeks)

here's a couple of pics plus a couple of more are in my album:

20% tint

35% tint/no 4x4 stickers

Bakflip HD cover

If you're looking for a Bakflip bed cover, email me through my profile and I'll hook you up with info about the online store I bought it from, this guy said he would try to hook people up. He had the best price I found online.

I love those sill protectors. Do they make them for the front door? My 11-year old truck's sills are all scratched up and I would love to cover them with something like that.

They are from the Ventshade company, same guys who make the vent visors. I originally bought a 4-door set for my old 04 truck. I used the rears on it, and saved the fronts. Now I used the fronts and cut them to fit my 09 rear sills. I think you should be able to find a front door set for yours.

Does Ford seriously not put doors sills on the front and rear doors? They did on my 2004 SuperCrew. I'm going to pay a bazillion bucks for my Platinum and get it without sill protectors?

That reminds me of when the 2004's came out and Ford eliminated (from the 1997 model) both the light under the hood and the lights on the lower door panels when you opened them so you could see where you were stepping.

PS That 20% tint is crazy dark. The popo would not be happy about that. Can't blame 'em, hard enought to see into vehicles for them today as it is.

That bakflip cover looks pretty cool. It looks like it's totally flat to the same height as the bed rail covers. I think that's why I actually like the look, it's not sticking up higher than the bed rails, not over the sides any like the velcro ones and looks totally flat, perfect height. Really nice.

Can you easily take it off if you need to? And does it hold up under snow pressure during the long cold winter months?

the 20% tint was too dark and almost seemed closer to 5% tint. My brother has 20% on his truck from a different tint shop and his is lighter than the stuff I had on. I guess it's different brands of tint. I just decided to go back to 35% like I had on my old truck with no hassles from the cops.

The Bakflip is nice and flush with the rails and hasn't leaked in any water so far. The HD cover I have has stronger aluminum panels versus the plastic panels of the G2 cover. But the HD does cost more. You can take it all the way off by simply undoing 2 bolts. Again, if anyone wants to buy one, just email me and I'll tell you where to get one cheap.

Your truck's looking sweet! I love the bed cover. I'll shoot you an email for the info. The tint also looks great. I'm still debating if/how dark I want to tint mine. I like the look without the 4x4 stickers as well. I think I'm going to remove mine too.

Have you thought about getting some HID's? I ordered some from the company in the HID thread, still waiting for them to arrive.

Hey Steve. You beat me to the backflip pics because mine was sent with the wrong rails! No problem as new ones are on the way, but I'm bummed because I was hoping to get it intalled before this big snowstorm that hit here today. Anyways, great looking truck!

^thanks guys!

Barritia, just do an internet search for AVS door sill protectors or they are also called Stepshields. You'll find some companies selling them. I can't remember what I paid or who I bought them from almost 5 years ago. AVS = Auto VentShade.
