Put a Lincoln emblem on the grill and it would follow the Mark LT.

By God those lincoln emblems and treatments on the 150 were an egregious mistake.

It's so interesting to me how the Mark LT never really took off but these Platinums seem to be an immediate success. Isn't it basically the same concept?

That's my point. Ford finally learned from the mistakes made with the Blackwood and the Mark LT. They've found success in the high end truck market by sticking with the F150 badging.

They are the same concept but just today i see 2 almost 30 secs after each other parked up and they have too much chrome. The platinum has pulled of the luxury while still looking tuff. I really hate the look of the LT but love the platinum. They really are nothing like each other. i woud have rather of had a lariat over the LT.

I think that is the best colour for the platinum (not that everyone elses arent nice), the blue looks great with the tailgate. That look even makes the Flex look good and thats pretty hard to do.

Congrats on the Truck!

I don't think anyone wanted to spend a ton of money on a pickup truck, yet ugly it out with lincoln badging, lincoln grille and lincoln taillights.

*The badging licolns use is an ugly stretched rectangle thing that looks pathetic and out of place taking up way too much vertical space.
*The grille's of lincoln's always look really bad - they remind me of those awful billet grille's, except vertical instaed of horizontal - straight, thin boring lines.
*And the taillights... my God... I don't know why some say the '09 tails are ugly but if you want REAL ugly, look no further than the lincoln's - they add huge red pieces of plastic all around those things to make it seem as if the taillight is virtually the entire rear quarter panels - unbelievably hideous.

The Ford branded pickups always looked better in every way except perhaps the chrome rocker panels which looked nice.

EDIT: Oh, and the interior of the Mark LT's/Blackwood's/etc. absolutely sucked - sucked in the fact they were virtually identical to the Ford counterpart. They didn't even offer NAV in the Mark LT until they offered it the same year in the F-150. There was NO reason to buy a Mark LT over an F-150, none.

Re: Put a Lincoln badge on it and...

People were saying it wouldn't sell even with the Ford badge. The badges are only part of it. Put a Ford badge on the '08 LT (like the 08 Limited F-150) and it wouldn't be anything close to the '09 Platinum. The Platinum takes it to the next level and beyond and tells you that you are in the top of the line F-150.

So I'm assuming all the new Platinum owners probably would not have owned Mark LTs...

Never. Could you imagine owning a Blackwood or Mark LT? Always bought the best Ford had to offer, which was always the Lariat every time they redesigned. This is the first time they did a refresh and had something better than the Lariat at launch (and thank goodness, if the only trim they had more upscale than the Lariat was the KR I'd have been pissed, because I have always hated the strange looking leather material & color in the KR's, not a fan of the strange badging either).
