Stowaway Bed Extender

Does anyone know if you can add this item to an 09 XLT with factory bedliner? Or will I need to mod the liner? I need a bed extender and this is the most practical one....

Mine came from the dealer all installed but I have the Ford drop-in liner and the stowaway extender. They work fine together. I REALLY like the extender. Very funtional.

I'm assuming the liner had marks at the proper locations for the extender's mounting holes. If not, cant be too difficult to properly locate and drill them as those areas look flat.

I picked up a drop in liner from the dealer. It has the indents for the bed extender. I like the fact that it matches the tailgate cover. Has anyone removed the tailgate cover and lineXed it?

My Dealer claimed they couldn't add the stowable bed extender as an accessory without adding the entire cargo management system... since all I wanted was the stowable bed extender I found one on ebay this week... might be another option for you.

can you order the stowable bed extender on its own as a Dealer accessory? Or do you have to order it from the factory on it's own? I am p*ssed if I had to go to ebay unnecessarily, but my Platinum didn't come from the factory with the bed extender...

Yep the bed extender can be ordered on it's own. I had to get the price for the the whole kit and it could all be ordered in parts. But the extender was a part that was sold on it's own.

The stuff from the dealer was not cheap at all. Over $1000 for full slideing rail kit. I think the bed extender was near on $500 with tax. I not 100% though as it was 3 months ago. But if you paid less or the same as it is on the buyers guide then you done well.

I just noticed after looking at the window sticker from my truck, my bed extender was apparently installed at the factory. It was a $195 option. The drop-in bed liner was dealer installed.

The truck was delivered from another dealership so I never saw it before the dealer options were installed.

As much as I like the bed extender, $500 seems a little steep for the convenience.

As long as you paid around $200 or less for the bed extender after market then you done well. The price i was also given were what they call cost because of the mess up they had with my truck. They wanted something like $1300 for the cargo mang system. My jaw hit the deck when they sad that. Even at $1000 it did.
