Bed Holes Threaded?

Be very careful using them without the cargo management system (CMS).
The reinforcing plate for the bolts behind the bed's body panel is only about 1 1/4" x 6 1/2". Each plate reinforces a pair of bolts. There are three plates per side.
If you tie a load to only a single pair of screws, you WILL pull out the panel. The CMS system is meant to tie all three pairs of plates/bolts together with a rail as a strong system, with the load applied to the rail ONLY. Used individually, the screws are not that strong. The CMS rail is also screwed to the top sheet metal of the bed's body panel with a bunch of M6 (1 mm pitch) screws for additional strength.

I did this today. Apparently the holes aren't actually threaded, or if they were, they weren't 8mm x 1.25. I'm assuming they use self-tapping bolts. I had to run a tap into each to cut threads. Then I put in a short stainless steel socket head machine screw in each. They look cool against the black LineX and should stop my weeping problem.
Listen to CnA when he says they can't be used for tiedowns. There's no strength in the areas they are located. I was flexing the panels just getting the tap started.
