Back of FX4 is not level

Looking at the back of the truck, the bumper does not appear to be level. i measured it today and the drivers side of the rear bumper is 2" lower than than the passengers side. i measured at the top of the rear wheel wells and the drivers side was 1.5" lower than the passengers side. Lastly, I measured at the frame over the axle and the drivers side was 1" lower than the passengers side.

Truck is an 09, FX4 Screw with 18" wheels and and 5.5' bed. It has a 36 gal tank, 1/2 full at time of measuring. 1010 miles on the odometer and I have never put anything in the bed to date.

Does this seem normal? I wouldn't think approx. 150 pounds of fuel would cause this much lean with the FX4 suspension. If i remember correctly, it still leaned this much when near empty.

Possibly wrong springs installed or just the way it was sitting...not too sure. I know Fords love o lean after a while, but so new? Yes the gas does effect it but should no be THAT much.

There was another 09 i see do this about 4-5 months ago. It's bed was not on level and if you look at fords tolerances it allows for something silly like +/- 25mm difference from one side to another. So you could be out as much as 50mm from one side to another. You will find that these figures are the same for every other brand also so it's not just Ford problem.

Take it straight back to the dealer and make sure to have that corrected.

Thats what the last guy tried but because it was in within normal tolerances they wouldn't do anything about it as it wernt classed as a fault. I checked mine wernt like that before i signed for it. Could be worth a try though with the dealer though.

He'll probably be told it's within Ford's manufacturing tolerance but worth a ride to the dealer.

In the ford Ranger world it's called the "Ranger lean." In that instance it's because of the gas tank. If the tank is on the same side as the lean it's probably that also and 36 gallons of gas is going to weigh a little bit.

Yeah my '03 ranger had the 19 gal tank, battery, and me (350+ lb lol) all on the driver's side and it was noticeable.

Hey if it's something your dealership is not willing to fix the first time this little trick works wonders and trust me when I say this (a family friend is a dealership quality exc.) and a simple call to ford with a complaint about the truck and about the dealership not willing to work with you with your problem will handle everything and sum. I dont care if its within specs. to the dealership it's not within specs. to me nor should it be to you, and lets face it the way the world and the market is today they should treat you well if they want to keep us buying American.

That's definitely something to go see the stealership about. If they try to give you a run around about it then just call Ford and tell them like DJG said.

Can't you just get one of those leveling kits I hear everyone talking about?

A leveling kit is for the front end and just adds usually 2 or 2 1/2 inches to the front and does not affect the rear. This allows the front to sit at the same height as the rear. The OP is having problems on the rear side to side so this will not change with a leveling kit.
