Spare tire Question

I am going out this weekend shopping for a set of 285/70/17 for my 09 XL 4x4.

Because I do some desert driving away from civilization, having a spare is pretty important to me.

I wanted to find out from guys if there would be any issue fitting a 33" spare under the bed?

Thanks

Worst case you could keep/mount the spare in the bed of the truck. I havnt been under a truck yet to know what sort of space is under there.

Should not be any issue. I've *heard* of people putting 35's under the bed.

ETA: This is for the 04-08 trucks. I could be completely wrong about the 09's.

This too is based on 04-08's but the biggest limiting factor on spare tire size stored down under is the exhaust. If you're going to go with an aftermarket system, look at that first to see what you've got left for room. My stock spare with my Magnaflow, on an 07 mind you, left me roughly 3/4 inch of clearance between the tail pipe and the spare.

Worst case, since will be venturing out in to the desert, grab a spare that matches your size and toss it in the bed.
