09 First Trip

Just got back from a 900 mile hunting trip to the mountains. Averaged 18.7 MPG freeway, city, and mountain roads for the trip. 4.6 3v had plenty of power for the hills and freeways. Truck handles curvy mountain roads like a champ. Very little sway even in sharp curves. Excellent brakes also. Noticed a few odd noises on the trip, don't know what they were. The cruise control seemed to have a little problem maintaining constant speed up hill. There were times I had to get on the gas. The Sync is great for phone calls on the freeways, Keeps hands on wheel. total of 1600 miles on truck now. Happy with it so far.

My cruise is the same way and I have the 5.4. I think Ford just got a little too conservative with the fuel management. Truck seems reluctant to downshift unless I have lost almost 5mph. It kinda sucks coming from a powerstroke that never downshifted or lost speed only increased the boost.

How long have you had your truck? Kind of makes a tear from my eye fall every bit closer my rig gets to 1,000 miles.

I can relate to a long trip. These trucks are amazingly civilized ,providing comfort and quietness for the entire trip.

Bought March 28th. It does have a quiet, smooth ride, especially compared to my Tacoma 4x4. This is my first Ford and I think I'm hooked.

I came from the same type of truck before my F150. Em' little Tacomas are good trucks, but what an upgrade!
