Speaker Install?

My new speakers are due tomorrow. Does the whole door panel need to come off or are the speaker grills somehow removable? Anyone have a procedure for removing the door panels if that's what I need to do?

Crutchfield apparently doesn't have an instruction sheet for the 09's yet.

I remember reading about someone removing just the speaker grills because he couldnt get the door panel off. I think the grills come right off but to remove the speaker you have to trim the panel slightly. Once the grill is back on you cant tell that you trimmed it. Or just remove the door panel. I think you pop off a cover behind the door handle remove two screws and then remove two other screws somewhere else.

You need to take off the door panels. It's not a hard process at all - a few screws and your good to go. It's better to take the door panels off than to trim the speaker cover - one wrong cut (or too much of a cut) and the cover won't fit.....

There are two screws on the bottom of the door panel, one under a plastic cover behind the chrome handle itself, and one under a plastic cover in the area where you grip the door to close it from the inside (hope that made sense). Four screws total. The one behind the chrome handle is the hardest to get to (That plastic cover can be a b***h to pop out).
Otherwise it's fairly easy.

Did them this morning in about 45 minutes. I'm virtually certain you couldn't just remove just the speaker grills on the 09's without destroying them. They appear to be metal and attached to the plastic panel by tabs that go through slots in the plastic and then are bent over.

That little plastic cover wasn't too hard to get out once I got a screwdriver I have that has its last 1/4" or so bent over for some purpose I can't remember. I was able to hook it towards the bottom of the side closest to the handle and pull it right off.
