Holy dog snot! I think I'd be finding a way to get there sooner than that!

Hey man, just read that mini-saga and what a great read! Kept me busy for 30 minutes and had a happy ending. Keep us posted!

WOW!! Congrats man. Looks like you finally found a dealership that wanted to sell a car and at a fair price. But there is no way I could wait that long to pick it up....lol.

Welcome to the 09 club!!

Congrats. If they would have shut you down I was coming to PA to bring you back to NC to a truck, lol.

Just got the phone call that my truck has landed at the dealer.

I apologized to my salesman for being a pain, but I still didn't trust dealer #1 to release the truck.

Now it is there, so I can rest a bit easier now.

Just has to add my 2 extra goodies, and should be on schedule to pick her up next Monday - now I am really starting to get anxious!

I'm getting real anxious - 10:00AM Monday.........

Talked with my salesman on Friday - brake controller successfully installed along with my step bars. All cleaned up and ready to go. He said everyone at the dealership really likes the truck with the combination of white paint with black leather.

I'm sure it's a beaut. Post pics when you can.

When are you going to show the nearby dealership your new truck?

Actually, my wife is more intent on doing this than me. This kind of surprises me as she usually doesn't get too involved with stuff like this (i.e. my toys). She was the one who suggested it first, and I of course will go along with it.

We will probably get down there next weekend. The sales office/showroom has 3 glass sides, with parking directly in front - I plan to park there taking at least 2 parking spaces at an angle, and walk right past to visit the service department who has been so great dealing with me.

Of course I'll have to take a couple photos while parked there........

Ha ha. I have been planning on doing the same thing to my local dealer. They have a nice service department but lousy sales. They laughed at me for not wanting to pay sticker price. Probably thought I was just a dumb kid with no money. Oh well I went up the road and payed invoice on a $45k FX4. Now I just need to go pick up an oil filter or some other random cheap part.

Done deal and my new baby is home!

Had a nice uneventful trip and a beautiful day for my first ride - certainly made me appreciate the moon roof open in vent position!

Just a few quick comments, then on to a couple photos.
Coming from an '08 XLT to an '09 FX4 is a huge difference - I still am in awe of how much better the truck handles, and is so quiet! It felt so much more planted to the road than my '08.

I have yet to play with any of the goodies - I've set aside the whole day tomorrow for setting up my phone with SYNC, and learning the NAV etc.

Enough of the talk - on to the photos. I shot a few quick photos with my wife's car since she just washed it, and is taking off to her parents house for a few days. By the way, that is a '99 VW New Beetle Turbo Diesel - thing really flies! I had to get a photo of them together - I call them Big Joe & Little Joe......

That's a nice ending to a long saga. Great looking truck.

Just out of curosity, how much cheaper was it to buy from the far away dealer than the dealer that had the truck? It really seems stupid for the nearby dealer to trade it away to another dealer rather than sell it to you at a fair price but strange things are known to happen.

All along I thought this was strange - strange enough to the point where I was worried that dealer #1 was not going to release the truck in the end....

Anyway, OTD difference was $4057 - pretty close to 9.5% difference.
