It says the HD sale price is $850? plus did they charge you a shipping surcharge since it's a heavy item?

If you saw my postings about a good source for where I got my Bakflip HD and hooking people up with the info, you could have gotten it for 799 shipped.

I missed your post.

It's free shipping + 3.99 for heavy item. I figured it was nearly $100 less than I saw it anywhere else. :?

you could try to call them and cancel the Bakflip order? and then I can email you the source on the HD cover. the special 799 price is less than my source's advertised online price.

I just ordered the Literider tonneau cover about an hour ago. It will be my first cover and I tried to research all the literature/reviews I could online. I think it should serve my needs pretty well. I just need a standard roll-up type.

That Bakflip looks nice though. Looks rock solid!

I appreciate the offer, Steve. I had a discount code that was good through today that gave me $100 off of my total order. So, I guess I could call it a wash.

What other products does your hookup have? I am always looking at stuff.

he just sells Bakflip products exclusively. No problem, sometimes you can get a deal when using online coupon codes.

Related question--can anyone explain the real differences between the G2 and the HD besides the panels? I talked to the owner of a large local dealer for Bakflip products. They are getting an hybrid version that is he says is basically a G2 with the metal panels of the HD. Its priced about $750 including installation. Nothing against online dealers but I've been trying to buy locally when it makes sense.

never heard of a hybrid version, is there a model name for it?

This website has some minor description differences of the HD vs. the G2. No, there is not a real big difference other than the panel material.

fyi, that website is not the online source that I have used/have the hookup with. also, you see on there that it says the HD cover is an OEM equipment part for one of the Big 3 auto makers - that would be Ford! It is rebadged and sold through Ford accessory division for over $1100 or more!

Apparently no--I'm led to believe that they are a large enough dealer (multiple locations) that they were able to specify what they want.

I was aware of the Ford connection--I heard it was part of the Harley package as well. The dealer told me they'd been looking at the Bakflip product for a few years and picked it up after they made some improvements to meet Ford's requirements. He also told me that this is what he has on his personal truck and wouldn't have anything else now. And this was after we talked about a couple hard-cover options that are significantly more expensive.

well, that makes no sense then. You say it's a G2 but with the metal panels of the HD. Basically it IS the HD cover then. Because they both use the same rails. So $750 is a good price for the HD, it's like you don't have to pay for shipping since it's local. Installation costs are meaningless, these covers are simple to install in a few minutes.
