Any F250 Converts heavy towers?

I have had a lot of Fords several Lightnings, F250's etc.. My current F250 is an 05 with the notorious 6 liter diesel engine. I am at 98K miles on the edge of expiration of warranty. I used to haul for business and pleasure a lot. Now it is only for pleasure.
Anyone here give up their F250 Super Duty for an 09 F150? The 11,300 tow rating baffles me. The axle is not a floater and the tires are not E rated. My F250 is both and only rated for 12,500. My toybox is a 24ft trailer that grosses out at 10,400. I am afriad I could not climb high mountian passes well with a 5.4 and the trailer weighing twice the trucks weight could toss it off the road. Thanks for your help. I do not like the new F250's and do not tow but 3-4 times a year for vacation. I am looking at a supercrew FX4 with all the heavy towing adds. Thanks!

I am curious too. I have a 2008 F250 4x4 w/ 6.4 deisel and pull a 2,000lb trailer with a 4 wheeler and a Polaris Ranger (1400lbs) and some times 2-3,000lbs of feed (that would be the worst case, and I too am looking at the 2009 F150. Would like to hear from '09 owners about what they have pulled and how they liked towing capabilities.

I think anything short of an enclosed will be okay with the new F150 when properly equipped. Trailer brakes will be more important as well. I find it funny the 09 F150 brochure shows them hauling a 5'er in the bed of a 5.5 supercrew. I can't imagine the turning angle would be much before you hit the cab. I have seen swb F250's smack the cab with 5'ers. I think the max comfy load would be a car on a car hauler. That is about 7,500lbs. I think about 75% of max is comfy. My F250 is rated for 12,500 but the wind drag and surface of the 24ft enclosed are the biggest issue. Even at 9,500 lbs semi's and cross winds can push on my diesel and it is 3,000lbs heavier and longer than a 5500lb supercrew. That 3000lbs of tow truck weight has to come into play somewhere when the trailer starts to push back. I also worry about the high altitudes. I know my ATV sucks wind and loses half its power at 13k ft elev. My turbo diesel maxes out at 22psi up there as well. When I see gassers hauling through the mountains they are singing at 4500-5000rpm. That is unnerving to me... It is no secret the diesel is a better puller that is not even a fair debate. So back on topic. My diesel is nice when it is working but it is expensive to operate and not as reliable as the old 7.3's and 5.9's... I will miss my turbo whistle. I have the basic tune and mods. It makes 420hp and 765 lb ft of torque. That feels really really nice...

Who is pulling enclosed trailers, toyboxes, campers with their F150? Who got out of their F250 for a F150? Since I only go to Colorado twice a year now. I think I can take it slower and make it with a well equipped F150. I bet she will suck fuel doing it...

I went from 06 Ford F250 with 6.0 to 08 Chevy with duramax to 09 F150. I will not be buying another truck soon, I love this one. It is very capable for a half ton in the towing department; however, it is a half ton. I think regularly towing a trailer that is 10k+ is a little much. It would probably do it but is pushing it in my opinion. I would however, have no concerns at all of pulling anything in the 5k+ range every day. I've only pulled my boat a few times so far. It is in the 3klb range with lots of wind drag and running 80 with it in 6th gear at 2k rpm is no problem at all.

Daddy said there is no perfect truck... or woman...

I wish I could by a new 7.3 F250 but that is not reality.

I don't think I want to gamble with this 6 liter past the 100k warranty. I will start cleaning it up and probably sell her

I may downsize the toybox also... That is the only reason I have kept the diesel around is the 24ft toybox... I guess it is time to step back into a gasser

Why do they list a max towing of 11,300? That kind of load will get someone hurt...
