Door dings

I was wondering why the F150 does not have door guards. I know it is a truck and all but I hate door dings.
The dealer told me the running boards would help but I pulled my car next to a King Ranch out in the lot and my door would have put a ding in it.
I did see another truck with a nice moulding on the side. Maybe an aftermarket??

Deciding between Tundra Crew Max and F150 today!

Just don't park next to skanky cars or if you can take up 2 spaces. There are so many different sizes of cars and trucks that there's no one place to have a bash strip. My wifes Mazda's doors hit a different area than my farther in laws Chevy does and same goes for the range rover and the Dodge. You would have to have a whole door of dent guard to stop dents. Best way is not park your vehicle in a place where it could get a ding.

So i guess we will see you back on here later after you go test drive them both telling us you are now a owner of a F150

You will see how crazy the difference in the 2 are when you get in them both and drive them.

The Platinum model does have a door guard strip...but as Barritia said, it's not going to catch them all.

If the possibility of door dings is the deciding factor in which truck you buy, you need to do a little more research.

The Tundra has a lot more options for the price but being in construction, I would feel better pulling up in an f150. Have not driven a F150 yet but we will see!
The door ding thing has nothing to do with my overall choice. I just don't know why most manufacturers don't have guards. I know that I used to park a mile away from other cars when I had my Porsche

running boards usually stick out far enough that its more likely people will hit the running board instead of the truck.

yeah, but the point being made is that they would not help against other trucks or large suvs. On small cars, yes the running boards should protect you.

A VW Toureg suv owner gave me a door ding on my 04 truck (and I had running boards). Luckily, I caught him right after it happened. He agreed to pay for the repair.

i see your point but door moldings are nasty to look at and eventually lift and peel away. i would 3m film my doors before i would ever put on door molding.
