Question Why would I want 20" wheels?

What would be a pro of ordering 20" wheels vs. the standard 18" on my next Lariat? I'm predicting better handling with less tire roll but a stiffer ride.

I have the 20's and they ride very well and you also get the uprated leafs with the 20's. Handling will def be improved.

I have the 18's on my Lariat - honestly I wish I had gone with the 20's just for looks. I think the truck just would look better with the bigger wheels, IMO, now that I've had a few months to think about it. Granted replacement tires will be cheaper.

I opted for 18's as an option back in '04 over the standard 17's. Made shopping for an aftermarket tire difficult! The 20's don't make the truck any taller off the ground do they?

You also get the 'new money' look, rolling on DUBs.

Generally, larger wheels are heavier which affects handling, braking, acceleration. Also, tires for larger wheels are usually more expensive. Most people buy the wheels they think look the best on their vehicles.

My 05 4x4 had 17" wheels. My 06 FX4 has 20" wheels. I was concerned that the 06 would ride a good bit worse but I was wrong. The 20" wheel/tire package firmed the ride up just enough to where I like it.

The tire has more affect on ride, handling, braking and acceleration than a wheel does. You get a good quality tire then you will have no problems with any off the above.

The primary reason I chose the 20" wheels over the 18" is that there is a much greater selection of replacement tires available in the 20" size. The biggest gripe I had with my 2004 F150 SuperCab was that Discount Tire only ever had the BF Goodrich OEM tires in stock when I needed tires.

the 20's def look better and have more tire replacement sizes/options but tires for the 18's will be cheaper.my 20x10 moto metals were like $250 more than the 18's.

I don't like the look of 20" rims on the F150. Just looks too pimped out. However, for those that wear ball caps crooked and pants halfway off the butt, 20" rims might be a good match.

I use my truck off road and for carrying loads. When off road, I'll decrease the tire pressure to increase traction. You can't do that with a huge rim and small sidewalls.
